In that case, it's as simple as 120mm at 60*, or effective 240mm. Which means Panther can only penetrate the turret.

someone believe the WWII panther have a penetration over 174mm/cos60=348mm which is better than the US 1970S standard (US M-728 (UK L-52) 105mm APDS 320mm at muzzle, 280mm at 1km, 240mm at 2km (mid 1970s))

The 1943 IS2 has a frontal lower glacis of 60mm at 72* from vertical, (effective 194mm), front upper hull at 120mm at 30* (effective 138mm) and a mantlet of 100mm at 0* (vertical). The IS2 has had historically poor turret protection, but superb hull, leading to most losses due to turret penetration or turret jamming at the turret ring.

The Panther Ausf. G has 80mm at 55* from vertical (effective 139mm), and a turret mantlet of 100mm at 12* (effective 102mm).

The IS-2 (1943) is armed with a 122mm D-25T L/43 gun, which with APCBC rounds can penetrate 204mm at 0* at 1000m, or 130mm at 30* at 1000m.

The Panther Ausf. G is armed with a 7.5cm KwK42 L/70, which with APCBC can penetrate 149mm at 0* at 1000m, 111mm at 30* at 1000m, or with APCR rounds, penetrate 170 at 0* at 1000m and 149mm at 30* at 1000m. The latter were often in short supply, so it's safe to assume the Panthers are(were) firing APCBC.

Settling the quality of steel aside and assuming homogeneous plates, projectile deflections or partial deflections, and disregarding battle conditions such as optics, ambush, visibility, or accuracy, what does this mean?

- The IS-2 can penetrate the Panther's turret at distances over 1000m, but not the front glacis plate (the hull).

- The Panther Ausf. G, with APCBC ammunition, can penetrate the IS-2's turret and upper hull at distances over 1000m, but not the lower glacis plate.

- Both of you are fucking retarded for arguing off-topic for three pages.


This is actually right. Also look at the picture about the IS-2Ms turret I posted on the last side. The IS-2s turret was penetrated easily. The hull on the modernized version was not. Yet any German tank commander would just target the large turret.

Just as there will never be SU-100 or real Soviet airborne forces skin and authentic weapons for this commander. Unless Relic gives new modding tools. But it takes another 8 years to play. Or get new tools from Microsoft. Because I am more than sure that the x64 patch came only due to the requirement of Microsoft that the Company of Heroes would be part of the Microsoft store.

Almost as if Relic wanted to give new units to play with instead of copy pasting everything over from coh1, eh?
Ele and JT are there, there is no logical balance reason for a 3rd one.

Microsoft should by Relic and CoH, so Relic can copy-paste CoH1 stuff, so we get more animations and units without many problems.

my thoughts exactly! it may not have a place in coh2 gameplay-wise, but damn... this is one of the most visually appealing and iconic tanks of ww2. would swap it against jt or ele any day. sadly not gonna happen though

How can you explain that they removed all CoH1 units we had? I think it has to do with legality.

If necro gives us options to fix some ingame-problems like animation or wepons, I will take it.
-> new Weapons (new sticky-bomb or M18 Recoilless Rifle)
-> new Vehicles (e.g Wirbelwind, 88FlaK or Hs129)
-> new Animations (e.g. V1-Explosion, fire-storm-rockets or bouncing-animations)

How I would like to see different blue-prints for soldiers or different Air-crafts.

Jagdpanther? It has no role in CoH2. All of its potential roles are taken up by:

Elefant
Jagdpanzer IV
Jagdtiger
Panther
Sturmgeschutz

When you add weapons of the same role to a videogame, you get clear dominance of one weapon over the other. If JPanther was added into the game it would just be a "better x" or a "weaker x."

This does not create more balance or interesting decisions in the game. This just increases the complexity of the game at the expense of gameplay. I doubt it will even increase variety because either the JPanther or some other unit will be overshadowed by the other.

The only way I see this being added is if there was a new 6th faction that needed a fixed turret ranged tank destroyer

It doesn't has to fit a real unique role, but it would make game look better. At the moment it is a copy-paste game, German fractions and Commanders are too similar.

Only for German fraction we could get (look at other factions too!)

Jagdpanther (could replace a Elefant for a commander, less HP but faster)
Wirbelwind (could replace OKW's Ostwind)
Tiger-II-P (could replace Tiger-Ace for a commander)
StuG IV (could be a Commader unit, replacing StuG III-G, beeing more expensive but more HP and armor)
StuH (could replace StuG-III-E)
Jagdpanzer Hetzer (could replace Jagdpanzer-IV with commander, cheaper but less range)
Hummel (could replace a Ostheer-Commander leFh18)
SdKdfz.-251 AT-gun
50mm PaK39 (could replace Püppchen, so Püppchen could become an unique Luftwaffe-Commander unit)
Kettenkrad
Schwimmwagen
4-ling 20mm FlaK
Nebelwerfer (could replace fire-shells of leIG18 OKW)
88-FlaK-36 (could replace some PaK43-88 guns, less range and DPS but cheaper and less pop)
Motorcycle
Panzerjäger Mader (could be Commander unit, replacing StuG III-G, beeing cheaper, less HP and armor, but faster reload)
SdKfz.-234 20mm-gun
Bergetiger

And with new skins they would still look good.

The only way i can see it implemented is as a re skin of the unit. Basically a cosmetic.
