Ist true that ost mortar is defensively focused and allied offensively, hence flares.
Imo usf mortar is being a bit overprowered. It could be adjusted with longer smoke range and shorter autoattack to put it a specific role as the others in the same category do.

An Ost mortar will frequently beat a soviet mortar even with flares up and synergises perfectly with the faction (Strong MG, typically long range infantry).
USF mortar is fairly comparable to the Ost, though I believe it has less range and isn't backed by as good of an MG (which also comes later)
Disclaimer: I'm fully aware certain people will chime in with some semi relevant stats to tell me how wrong I am but I actually play the game instead of living in some deluded world where everything is looked at in isolation when it suits them...

Not broken, don't fix. Best nondoc mortar.
Wouldn't mind seeing counter battery get a wee buff, but that aside the 8cm is a solid mortar
Also, it's better to check here before spouting X unit is ACTUALLY the worst/best.

I tend to ignore all stat sources that isn't the mod tools. I've never seen any source 100% up to date that isn't the mod tools, that site included.

Unless it's the latest latest changes, it "should" be up to date. Mortars did in fact changed but that has been quite some time ago.
Problem with mod tools is accessibility and readability. For specific things i also jump straight to the files (i always had the extractor tool).

Yeah it just doesn't include Dec 2018 patches (JLI, brummbar nerfs, etc).

LEIG 18 does around 180-190 damage dead center on a squad while wehr mortar does around 230-240 damage. Huge difference right. Buff LEIG18 instead.
Wehr mortar is better than LeiG 18
