I don't see why the Maxim can't fall to 5 men, they did it to the 120mm and it worked well enough.

Just to clarify, the change to 120mm was made because it was an easier fix than 2 men de-crew as other mortars.

+decrewing and recrewing completely nullifies any out of the gate rec acc.

It does, but re-crewed soviet weapons are very powerful because they are tougher to kill and the crew has allot of DPS.

A 2+4 penal maxim crew will probably win against a pioneer flank even if they are completely flanked without even have to turn the hmg.

The higher the target size of crews the more effective merge becomes since "merged" entities would be significantly tougher.


Can't merge mechanics be changed so that models merged into Maxim don't keep their original RA, then?

I think so, if one adds a squad penalty to weapon, that would effect any squad/entity that re-crewed the maxim.

Actually a buff for ATGs (T.S. 1) and nerf for mortars and HMGs (T.S. 1.25).

The maxim is a disaster. In each patch it's either up or op. I hate drastic changes, but I think for a bad unit like this one, something drastic needs to be changed. Maybe supression shouldn't be touched. Maybe it should be an offensive mg which does a lot of dps and make the dskha have low damage and higher suppression.

I know why they did it, but it would still work. Maybe give it +1 model at vet 3 if needed but I don't see why it wouldn't work it it made it half not garbage

i think the maxim is in some ways more potent than mg42.

it can defense on itself, cause of high speed setup time, 6 models and fast supress

it can with no problem reposition and hey...models dropped? when u planed right there is a con squad nearly and u can merge...


Why your soviet rank is 5000+ then if its so great?

a setup mg42 must be retreat when flanked....a maxim wont


Pgrenz sturms volks pfussies assault grens all disagree with you. The deathloop disagrees as well.
Pgrens grens and volks all can throw their grenade frontaly before supresion kicks in thus forcing the maxim off or wiping it. Maximns littre the field late game mg42,s do not. For obvious reasons.

Maxim cant effectivly supress, doesnt do great damage, smaller arc, usseles vet abiliy, mobilty was nerfed. Deathloop. Its only positive is 6 men. It has no reason to cost the same as mg42 wich is way better in every area but durability.
