They have endless space 2 and total war all they lack now is RTS. Please don't start about dow3 :luvDerp:
I think COH3 is the only option.

Yes, this SEGA “Road to 2020” plan pretty much confirm a COH sequel within the next 4 years.

FYI, on page 23 (SEGA “Road to 2020” business presentation) you can see semi-official confirmation from SEGA that Relic will be working on a COH sequel + maybe a new IP.
http://www.segasammy.co.jp/english/pdf/release/20170515_rt2020_e_final.pdf

Within the gaming industry such as https://www.linkedin.com profiles, usual "unannounced project" refer to a sequel or expansion and "unannounced title" is a new IP. Knowing this, you can look on Relic jobs how they are building a new COH team. As example; one Art Director Relic recently recruited for COH "unannounced project";

Worked on previous AAA titles such as; Just Cause, Far Cry, Medal of Honor. There is very little chance Relic would recruit a new art director this late for a DoW3 expansion.

I have given several good hints/info on this forum that SEGA Europe would expand their core IPs (Total War, external Warhammer IPs, COH, Football Manager, Endless Space 2). Relic GM has also briefly talked about this last year. The new Wargaming Alliance (free to play titles) is definitely part of that "Road to 2020" plan for global IPs.

The big push is all driven by intellectual property (IP) and company brands in the document, with Sega shifting from device-centric development to IP-centric development. This means the company is bringing its games to more platforms: PC, mobile, and game consoles.

If Relic expands to mobile their focus will probably be a strategy card game.

Company of Heroes dev reckons it's solved the RTS on console problem

"The one thing we would love is to get the Relic experience on a console," Duffy enthused. "They can do great graphics and great sound. The things I love about Company of Heroes on the presentation side would translate, no problem. But the tactical squad control and cover, those would be harder to mechanically translate to a control pad.

These are great points. I get this feeling that (giving how big accomplishments community did over years and still doing) someone should make an interview with key people in the community, top10 players, tournament organizers, casters, etc... and prepare a big open letter to Relic about what people want from COH3. It would be crucial to let them know what community wants before coh3 pre-production ends.

I do believe we'll see a CoH 3 but this "news" is about dormant IPs, CoH isn't one of them.

I think what most people want here is a coh that doesn't have a broken engine. Sucks that it's it's only game if it's style in terms of size and mechanics.

So if a coh3 does come out. I hope they don't carry anything over from coh2 besides the dedicated servers.

Would love to have a game where I don't fear bug splats over the enemy team.

Where my $3,000 dollar computer can run this game as it should.

And not hire morons as balance designers...

Oh and for the love of god not tend to those who get offended. So yea include realistic flags and symbols.

If anything this is bad news because they'd just make a DoW3 but set in WW2.

Well, guess what I actual read the whole 2020 plan not just what some journalists decided to focus on as "click bait"/PR nostalgia.
Read between the lines and its obvious SEGA Europe studios (which include Relic) will continue to be the primary AAA investment expanding their core IPs. SEGA only has a few studios capable of doing triple-A games.
Look at how SEGA Europe studios have been growing both internal and buying new studios such as Amplitude last year and a new studio for Creative Assembly. CA alone now has 4 studios.
Two new partnerships between SEGA Europe and Microsoft Xbox (Halo Wars) and Wargaming Alliance for PC/console.

Halo wars 2 was a fail. Being one of the best hw1 players. Hw2 was just stupid. I told them hw1 was good due to simplicity. They tried making it something it wasn't. So I hope they don't make that mistake with a new coh. Taking it in a direction just to say it's a new direction..

They can't do this. Germans are huge part of community and in germany every game without flag censorship is automatically getting banned.

Well I say it's a 50/50 on sequels turning out better in general, so I keep hopes modest. I have a feeling SEGA will destroy hearing "global hits".

Easy to forget they created the best RTS of all time.

Unfortunately, almost everyone who was part of the vCoH creation team has left Relic Entertainment.

I just hope they don't leave the WW2 time era. Especially now, when World War style games are coming back into the spotlight. Doing a futuristic soldier RTS would not be wise.

+1 COH series is still great, but if it would end up in hands of someone who actually bothers to fix absolutely obvious bugs BEFORE releasing them, it would be even greater
