These are map, commander and faction statistics for the GCS main round. The brackets are found here.

For links to replays, check out this thread. Stats for the placement matches can be found here.

Stats after all 114 games of the tournament. Six replays (which are used here to determine commanders only) are missing (steffenbk1 vs Zarok (G4), TwistedTootsy vs. BartonPL (G2), Talisman vs. Fredbrik (G1), Lt.Baumy vs. Luvnest (G4) and G3&G4 of VonIvan vs. HelpingHans) so no commander selections for those.

G4 of the semi of VonIvan vs. DevM was actually ruled in favor of VonIvan due to bugsplat, but I counted here for for DevM, as I feel that that would be a better reflection of faction/map/player/commander performance (unless OKW has the ability to make the opponent bugsplat in 1% of cases).

Before pzfaust change - soviets worst win rate in gcs placements.

After pzfaust change - soviets best win rate in gcs main round.

Due to how matchups in the first round of GCS are determined this dataset can, at best, tell you what factions the best players prefer to play as.

e.g., if DevM's favourite faction was not USF, the winrate for USF would go down, etc.

You can expect to see more-balanced matchups starting from the 2nd round and above.

Tobis vs Andres and Theodosios vs Refero seem to have been more evenly matched than the other matches on that round. (I've only watched Tobis' matches though).

You can't say 1 faction is OP or UP at all. I agree that like OKW is in a very good spot, thats for sure, but it also depends on the map.

Also like when rank 32 plays vs rank 1. And rank 1 wins 3 games. He probaly would win with anyfaction the 3 games tbh.

So yes numbers and stats are great, but also you have to look on the players and the map!

but but threads are filled with axis op and that allies suck much that they need to removed from the game. /s

i am 100% sure more axis nerfs are coming just because modders giving into pressure of allied bullies in the threads just like relic did.....and no making axis weak early because they are strong late game is suhc bullshit because they are not better late game then other faction the only strong late game factions is actually ukfs....the axis tanks infantry are already nerfed to the ground nothing elite about them

Definitely. Just, given how much bullshitting that's been going around lately, one could imagine not even VonIvan playing Soviets would be able to beat a monkey playing Axis ;)

Sample size to small to be accurate representation of faction balance currently. Seeding of first round also often pit a high seed vs a low seed and resulted in large skill gap games where the high seed could most likely have won with any faction. At least wait for the first round to conclude this Sunday to begin making assumptions. :) Also if USF won the only games on crossing in the woods clearly there was a skill gap. OpieOP

That DevM game in Camping in the Woods was brutal, definitively the best game out of the 3, A_E quoting The Simpsons makes it unforgetable.

Yeah OH on life support, but this is not a surprise, even before the patch I was struggling to find a cast or replay with WM wins :D I may be bad at this game but it looks like everybody is bad with OH.
If OH loses it's L2P issue, if allies lose it's imbalance issue. Allies fanboys are better at complaining i guess or they are more in numbers. Not too many people play WM nowadays.

its real funny that u say that because most of the time there is alot more axis calling for nerfs on allies and thats why there is so many nerfs to allies, and u know how allies respond? they just adjust and keep playing. almost every patch in the last 2 years , each one of the patches have more allies nerfs then axis nerfs. proven fact

@frostbite - the fact that they were nerfed just proves how overpowered they were in the past.
And we all know that the patches fix only few things at a time ( and sometime revert the changes).
I am sure the fanboys can find lots of arguments just like yours but the numbers don't lie. It's obviously easier to win as allies, just check DevM stats.

alot of axis players were used to a very simple style of play, they would get mgs and make units retreat and sit there. get tanks and always fight head on while enemy tanks deflect every thing. blitskrieg in blitzkrieg out.... smoke away from deaths. winning op inf fights.
while allies always tried hard using flanking manuevers smokes mines tons of strategy to avoid mgs. basically using everything they can think of to kill super tanks and axis blobs. and they eventually got better then axis players. that called for allies nerfs to even out the win /lose ratio. and till this day things like that stil exists. its getting alot better now tho

What about players that play axis and Allies equally? Balance opinions shouldn't be taken seriously from people who only play one side because obviously there will be a large amount of bias. No AHP pairwise comparison and checking for consistency ratio < 0.1 is gonna fix that bias.

The sample here is far too small and also dominated by very clearly won matchups (3-0 or 3-1) to make any inferences on balance. The only remotely sensible way to look at these matches would be by only looking at matches that seemed less clear cut, i.e. where each of the players did win at least one game (an approach chosen by Cruzzi in the GCS matches before the main round). Otherwise the result is just an indication for the skill gab and not for the balance since most of these clear cut series had the "stronger" player starting with an allied faction.

A lot more games will be needed ;)

Again, thanks to Siphon X., for the fantastic work.
