The reason we do not have a howitzer for OKW, is that we get the best rocket artillery in the game (Stuka zu Fuss). Nothing comes close to its accuracy and destructive power. OKW already can bust open emplacements far easier than OH can, and then there's the doc Jagdtiger for endgame fort sieges. Hummel is totally unnecessary, as much as some people here want this to happen:

The stuka zu fuss has great damage per rocket but it does it in a very small area in a short burst, what the hummel would be great for is area denial and harassment of emplacements over a long period of time because to kill emplacements with stukas you have to have 2 of them because the emplacements will be repaired by the time you reload but the hummel could actually keep the damage coming and punish British players who put all their emplacements in one spot by doing damage to all their emplacements and the engineers that try to repair over a period of time and it would still be useful without emplacements as a good indirect fire weapon but it doesn't have to be as op as it is in the video you posted after all lots of units that appear in coh2 are different than they were in the original coh.

Answer: The initial stuka zu fuss, not the current one.

I would gladly pay for any blood-transfusion for axis. The two axis faction is getting more and more alike. The new commanders are kinda boring too... Flamer-Hetzer is a joke. I feel tired of having the slightly different version of the same units, and playing the same meta over and over again.

Volks/Grens, Command P4, Command Panther, Panther, P4, Puma... Relic could have given OKW a doctrinal Whirlwind instead of another copy of Ostwind...

So yes... i welcome any idea of implementing NEW axis units. KCH, Berger, Hummel, Marder, whatever... You know, kinda like how USF received rangers, calliope and pershing..

1. Throw Hetzer out from Feuersturm doctrine.
2. Place there Hummel S-P.
3. ....
4. Profit!

NO! dont touch the flamhetzer its to fun to troll with. Overwatch doc needs some love tho. Maybe thats a good place for the Hummel :hyper:

Overwatch doctrine would be a good place for Hummel. Spot the enemy and bombard it with the hummel.

If they have some sense in balancing this game they will never do this. Just lets sum up: non-doctrinal elite infantry + non-doctrinal rocket artillery + non-doctrinal heavy tank + doctrinal mobile heavy artillery piece all at once in the hands of a single player? Please leave some spots where Ostheer is actually useful in teamgames, thanks.

Adding unit doesn't mean that everyone will use it and it will make faction OP. Look at Calliope, look at Pershing, at Mattress... USF from very start wasn't suppoused to have heavy tank - but they got, as option for you in doctrine. Same goes for rocket platforms for UK and USF. An options.

Hummel should be just like that Pershing - an option of OKW player. Feuersturm/Overwatch doctrines doesn't give you too much, way less, than all others. One of them defenitely deserves to be reinforced with Howtizer power.

I actually would add it in Feuersturm, re-name it to "Scorched Earth doctrine" and let it be.

Remember - there is nothing more effective against such hatred blobs, like HOWIITZEEER!

I personally think the game is about making difficult choices. You are right USF had no rocket artillery or heavy tank, Priest was doctrinal from the start. But although Pershing and Calliope was added you can't have all at once. If you go for Pershing you have to quit Priest and Calliope and so on. Same for brits if you go land matress you quit artillery (Sexton), the good heavy tanks (Avre or Crocodile) and elite infantry (Commandos). Either way you will miss something what you may need later on. Your decisions will turn out good or bad, but it is important that you have to decide at all.

If Okw will get its MG34 for supression non-doctrinal there is one of their last unit/mechanic gaps filled. The biggest missing link would be a big (moveable) artillery piece most likely. Since anything else they really need is non-doctrinal there is no real drawback in taking the commander with Hummel, because you would have all unit types available by choosing it. This would be totally different of course if all OKW elite infantry or the KT would be doctrinal for example, but they aren't.

Furthermore its part of the fun in teamgames to complement the unit composition of your mates and to adapt to their strategy. It would be boring if everybody could field any type of unit on his own. So if an axis faction should get the Hummel it definitely should be Ostheer and not OKW. There you would have to quit elite infantry and heavy tanks (Tiger or Elefant) for example for taking Hummel. Thats a choice that I appreciate.

I agree, smoking is a terrible practice. But why discriminate specifically against the British ones?

Stuka don't bust emplacements, all you need to do is brace.

Howitzer fires non stop.

Stuka is made for killing, garrisons, team weapons and blobs, it is not a counter to anything. Even a not braced emplacement won't die to a single stuka salvo and would be repaired before the stuka barrage is charged again. LeiG is the best emplacement counter available to axis factions already. Its non-doctrinal, affordable in manpower cost, costs no fuel other than most emplacements and is buildable early on. The only thing thats wrong about this line up is the british commander with counter artillery fire in the smaller game modes like 1vs1 ans 2vs2. But they already searching for a solution as you can read in the current balance preview mod notes. So OKW doesn't need Hummel to counter emplacement.
