Predicting/Discussing the Veterancy Fix

Yeah, I'm really afraid of a lot of very random bugs/problems after they start messing with the engine.

If the fix will work properly, I think OKW will be stronger than ever. Why?
Because they have superior veterancy that was originally designed to be compensated by a resource penalty. Well, now there's no resource penalty for the faction AND it still has the superior veterancy. Volks with schrecks gain veterancy in no time (this should be adjusted) and vet 5 obers will be a crazy terminator squad. Well any squad with vet 5 really. Even now when veterancy isn't working, panzerfusiliers and jaeger light infantry are very strong - I can't even imagine them at vet 5.
Dont forget that they already started some patches ago, to nerf the vet4 & vet5 from several infantry units. They are still strong of course, but not that much when WFA got released.
And yeah sprinting vet5 panzerfüsiliere with G43 are

Yeah, the direction they're going is the right one but a lot of things should still change IMO.

We might see the need to make some OKW passive buffs turn into activated abilities with muni cost. But really we have to see how the patch will play out.

All it needs is a interested competition wanting to make a somewhat similar game.

Passive sprint and suppressive fire for Obers would be likely candidates. I mean, just by their modifiers Obers scale more or less the same (or better) as their counterparts such as commandos/shocks/paratroopers. Having passive sprint and passive suppression on top of that feels like a bonus that can't really be justified when considering OKWs relatively cheap tech and no resource penalty.
But this is just spit-balling. I have no idea how UP/OP anything is going to be when vet will work as intended.

I predict this patch will fix the vet. But then open a whole new door of problems... you know, weird like t34 ram not working, or the motor flare shows the whole map. Or grens have unlimited sprint.
Something will be wrong with the map pool
Something will be wrong with some hot key
Some unit will become completely broken like the m8. Be able to 1 shot panthers.
Paratroopers will all die upon landing or something
Seems to be the case. You know like mysteriously when the rear echelons became 50 men squads.. was there even a single change in them in the notes? if not, then you wonder the random shit i mentioned above is a possibility. .
if i'll get unlimited t34 ram range, i will never buy a different tank again

How long has it been in there? The units will probably be as what they were before the bug.

You mean the veterancy bug has been in the game for as long as anyone can remember? That is not true at all, as it has been confirmed by the guy responsible for maintaining the Bugs database.

Having taken a few programming courses myself, I have alot of respect and sympathy for relic and the issues they have with bugs.
Bugs will always be part of any human programming endeavour. However it's their software testing mentality that's made Relic a joke. Of course there are interconnected parts, but it's a professional software company. I'm sure you've learned in your programming courses that testing is very, very important; unless you can write a mathematical proof that your code works (possible, but very difficult due to the complexity of the system), then you'll have to empirically test your code.
To be honest I wouldn't be too harsh on Relic either, since I suspect the company's poorly managed (another important aspect of software engineering), but the recent bugs from patches have made it a laughing stock. If humans can make the hardware and code to land rovers on Mars, then I'm sure it's possible to make a less buggy computer game.
Edit: I also suspect their main talent is focused on their next big project (probably DoW3), so CoH2 may be run by a skeleton crew.

Irregulars had a really op vet in terms of accuracy, but they arent there anymore...
They also used very shitty weapon.
60% from 5dps isn't as much as 30% from 20 DPS.
Same case for penals.
