The T34/76 is cost efficient against most vehicles but not infantry. It needs slightly cheaper cost and better stats on MGs so it can plink away at infantry.

If by "most vehicles" you mean lights, then you're right! :romeoHype:

The way i see it the T34-76 is the spiritual successor to the 'Troop training' ability to vet up enemy units.

Why don't they make it like this:
  • Switch T34/85 and T34/76's placements in army
  • Make T34/76 Doctrinal, 6CP requirment that allows it to be built from the HQ
  • T34/85 now rests in T4, maybe buff the SU/85 too.
  • Give everyone a free biscuit, it is the Soviet Way.

I find that the t34/76 is a rather good tank.
It's quite cheap making it so you can have quite a few of them, combining it with mark target, guards, and other support it's extremely potent.

I have countless of games where this tank has preformed exceedingly. easily turning things like king tigers, jagds, elephants, and even tigers into mush

only things that i really have trouble against is more or less the panther, puma, and volks shrekt blobs. I'll give it to the panther because this is what the panther is more or less supposed to do as is the puma. Losing to a shrekt blob is more or less on my own fault i think.

I think people use it a bit awkward, either they are way to conservative as if it were a su-76 or su-85 or they use it like a t-70. I wouldn't call it a L2P issue but more of a habital issue,

IMO whether from gameplay or historical viewpoints, swapping the T-34/76 for T-34/85 is not necessary. Here is why:

First, historically, from 1941-1945 there're around 34000 T-34/76s produced, while only 22000 T-34/85s produced (Walter S. Dunn, Jr (2007). Stalin's keys to victory : the rebirth of the Red Army). So T-34/76 was actually the most numerous Soviet tanks produced in WW2, and the bulk of Soviet tank forces in the three most important battles of the war: Battle of Moscow, Stalingrad and Kursk . It can be said that the 76 was the tank that won the war, not the 85.

Second, about gameplay just a little more anti-infantry power for the T-34/76 should do it. This is very easy to do and required the least effort. No need for any big change, at all.

Your opinion?

And this is excatly what T34/76 is doing.
So there's the point. T34/76 is doing job of the light tank, not medium tank.

The t-34/76 fulfills a hybrid role. It's a light tank in terms of usage, but has much better armour and health and has Ram which is great for trades. The whole thing about Soviets is: "Cheaper, weaker, but more numerous" and a t-34 makes a great battle buddy for the lighter tanks in the SU army. (Both T70 and Su76)

A cromwell is used similarly to be honest because of its speed and smoke shot ability. You can use it like a more traditional medium tank, but you're not taking full advantage of it.

I agree with almost everything...

Ram is just useless :P It means certain death for your T34 in exchange for stun on enemy's tank.
Once upon a time it was OP with main gun crit all the time and then it was nerfed to the deepest depth of uselessness.

Trading engine damage for stun is not a good trade. It should have a chance to inflict crits or stun + 320 damage or so.

The multiplayer is clearly set in 1944/45 though. Featuring Sturmtiger, King Tiger, Jagdpanzer IV L/70, Jagdtiger, Flammpanzer 38t, StG44s in numbers, Comets, Jacksons, Pershings etc. hints on the game being set way into 1944 if not 1945. A time where the T-34/85 should be rather common.

Ram should be a tank-guided TWP. Stuns both tanks on hit, shorter stun if it deflects. with the engine overheat reduced to 12 seconds from 24. T-34 can still fight afterwards if it survives and is no longer suicide, other side doesn't get crippled if it does work, makes the T-34 ability have more synergy when used with combined arms.

Soviet T4 =/= Ostheer T4

Also no side armour in-game.

I think a good demonstration of the t34/76 was the first game of this series:

I love 'historical realim' people like you.

KT - less than 500 built.
Jagdtiger - 88 built.
Brummbar - 306 built.
Sturmtiger - 19 built.

This is a game. Let's not be silly.

T34-76 is garbage, especially at T4. Swap it with the T34-85 and it'll be ok.

Loses against Tiger, Panther, okw P4, and KT.

Beats Stug, JP4, Puma, and can beat Ost P4 with RNG.

When you add in support it can fight other mediums, but heavies/panther hard counter t34 hoard. (On paper turret less TDs should but in reality protecting infantry gets artied and TD gets swamped from all directions, only map where t34/76s struggle against TD is langres.)

We either play 2 different games, or in yours opponents are always immobile.

All of these beat T34/76 effortlessly if you micro.

It's bad, but not useless. You can take out light vehicles like ACs and HTs pretty quick, get in and get out.

With vet 1 it makes for a decent fast capper.

With mediums you can always flank turret less TDs on most maps if you accompany it with a big infantry push with arty so you can isolate the TD. T34/76 also has good synergy with su-85 and su-76 that you can always afford due to price in fuel. For 80 fuel you get a unit that punches over its weight with its gun.

I will say though it's map specific.

Still waiting for it to be cheaper, it's not worth what it does in damage now with its current price.

Oh no, the Soviets spamming a shitty tank? Whatsoever will the Axis do!?

it's actually not useless but given that CoH2 is about unit preservation and ram is the opposite it's an inherently bad ability.

the "good" usage of ram is when your 34/76 is fucked anyway so you might as well ram and maybe run over an AT gun/RNG that engine damage. since the 34/76 is going to die anyway you're technically gaining something by ramming.

34/76 can beat the IV with RNG but it's like 60/40 or 70/30 in the IVs favour in a game about unit preservation which means it's bullshit on the level of plane crashes.
