This is not a thread to cry about the Goliath. It is simply a discussion in regards to one simple mechanic on it in regards to balance.

Should the Goliath be able to self spot for itself?

=============

My take:

I personally don't think it should.

It's not a living creature.

Russian Demos don't self spot, along with any other mines in the game.

It makes no sense from a balance perspective either (taking realism out of the picture).

Demolition Charges are not a controllable unit.

Demolition Charges are not a controllable unit.

You have control over the moment of explosion.

Also, mobile demo that can move while camo and self spot, doesn't require any supporting unit to place and costs just 10 more then normal static non self spotting demo?

Yeah, that sounds like a good balance idea.

WW2 germany had some neat technologies, but GO Pro with life time streaming was not one of them.

That exactly true! so if he goliath is a controllable unit it should be controlled by you and not self spot!

Honestly if they wanted the Goliath to be realistic, it'd have a guy 20 meters behind it holding the damn controller

What about buildings they can spot too... or victory, munitions, fuel point, caches?
Trip wire flares?

Can move while camo only if moves in cover.*
0 armor low hp.
Easy countered by a 30 ammo upgrade, commander/infantry ability or special at troops.
Can be attacked/destroyed by anything if spotted.

It was released less than a day ago and you do this.
It was tested by relic internally and then with balance test preview.
Please play the game or ask some other players later for tactics.

*snip of dumb image*

I did mean to put the in cover part, typed it badly. And I probably played more in one day than you have since the entire release. I do play the game. In fact I'm in the top 35 players in the whole world. How much do you play?

Yeh I think I'm entitled to my opinion on balance.

Permanently Banned
Definitely no. Only problem with this unit is that it can spot for itself which makes no sense at all. Fix that and its fine.

For realism and balance - NO

But it ruins the gameplay with it..just being real how wants to control this thing through fog of war and even then when units shoot at it they will be visible, it would just be weird.

Historically speaking it would make sense to get rid of its spotting as it required operators to know when to detonate the explosive.

Stat wise, the 400dmg it does when detonated vs the 200 when killed by enemy unit coupled with the larger AOE than USF demo means its rather potent. The mobile camo it gets means that its hard to track down by light vehicles that can and will be killed if you get to close and its hard to judge this range resulting in a lost unit. I think making it have a very limited line of sight would allow for some good counter play as making it a support unit would make it require a unit to spot for it.

Just an added thought, if this logic is sound then make combat/assault engineers

But Go-Pro Demo charge with radio detonator is fine for allies?

What about all the radio's in russian tanks?

and their 360 Degree perfect vision.

for realism, shouldn't soviet tanks have to "turn out" to see in combat and risk being de-crewed by small arms fire?
