Give USF Sneaky Commander!

Every faction in game has at least one commander specializing in stealthy infantry play and intelligence. Partysans, Salvage/Special Operations, Jaeger Infantry and Encirclement, and Commando Regiment all give their respective factions the opportunity to be played in an infantry heavy manner, using stealth and surprise to catch the enemy off guard before they can react.

Now that USF has Pershing and Rangers, this is truly the last hurdle for USF to be the greatest faction in CoH history. I present to you, curious reader, Light Infantry Company.

0 CP-Infiltration Training

Allows officer units to order themselves and surrounding infantry/weapons teams units to use "Camouflage" ability, not in negative cover. Costs 35 munis.

1 CP- Communications Intercept

Functions identical to Soviet Radio Intercept, however for balance reasons it's at 1 CP.

5 CP- Light Riflemen (Black Devils)

Elite, 5 man infiltration squad armed with prototype carbines. Can plant demo charges, throw thermite grenades, and upgrade to M1941 LMGs which function like the FG42. Camo by default, moves through snow/mud with no penalties.

7 CP- M24 Chafee Call-In

Advanced light tank with a 76mm gun. Armor and speed of Stuart, with gun of a M4A3 Sherman's AP rounds. 80 fuel, has two abilities: A generic speed buff ability at vet 1, and at vet 0 a critical shot ability. Can upgrade to a .50 cal machine gun, and sight range improved with vet.


10 CP- Signals Warfare

For a cost of munitions, enemy minimap and audio ques can be garbled/disabled. Vacant Territories that are cut-off are decaptured. This is a costly ability that lasts 60 seconds.

I was kinda hoping the Rangers would fill this flavour, and their actual showing kinda makes me wish it was still - they really ain't too interesting right now.

Exactly. They had cray cray weapons and their winter warfare training is PERFECT for CoH2.

I really want a USF infantry unit with a smooth operator/straight edge vibe, and I also want a commando type unit.

No thanks, I wholeheartedly disagree with this suggestion.

What you are asking for, is literally

A 4 man Fallschrimjager squad (Ability to pop out of buildings) - Since you said infiltration, I am assuming it is like stormtrooper, JLI, Fallschrim and Parti which are all called "infiltration units" and whatnot in-game.

- with Fallschrimjager's Vet 2 Ability (Cloaking) +
- Sturmpioneer ignore tough terrain +
- Demo charge (Which fall does not have/ OKW/ OST DOES NOT HAVE AS A WHOLE) +
- Thermite grenade (Assumed to a form of multi-role nade)

I am sorry, but are you out of your minds?

By "prototype Carbine", I sure as hell hope it is not M2 you are talking about. That is equivalent of spawning an STG armed Fallschrim next to someone.

Partisan specializes in stealthy infantry play - Their non doctrinal infantry sucks, by using Partisan, they abandon Guards, Shock troops, and all weapon upgrades for Conscripts
Luft ground forces Most comparable to what you suggested with different role and playstyle, but the focus is Fallschrimjager which is almost a mirror of what you are suggesting. EXCEPT it is inferior in every way to the unit you are suggesting... considering they both occupy the role of elite infantry, this is where the issue comes.
Salvage - They (JLI) can infiltrate, but cannot cause a lot of damage due to rifle armament
Jaeger - No pop out of building unit like you suggested, rest of their ability apart from camouflage is not exactly "stealthy" either.
Encirclement - Stormtrooper needs 100 muni to get STG in order to anti infantry, not exactly noteworthy in terms of power until upgraded and even then. They also have long upgrade time despite being able to upgrade in enemy territory
Commando regiment - Furthest from stealth you can go, their glider is not "stealthy", and the rest of their ability seems useful for frontal assaults? I mean, smoke raid, assault, mortar cover, etc.
Special operations - Are you kidding me? Are you telling me infiltration grenade, STG ober, Artillery flares and a call in Panther is "stealthy"? no?...

PS: Radio silence hides units from minimap BUT, capping instantly shows location, shooting instantly draws attention

Giving USF this commander, as you suggested is not the greatest hurdle overcame to become the "greatest faction in CoH history", it is ridiculous.

If I am to reverse your suggestion to something along the line of this for OKW, what would you think the issues could be?

0 CP - Ambush Camouflage - Allows all OKW Infantry to camouflage while not in negative cover - 30 Munition

1 CP - Radio Intercept - Exact same as Soviet version and your proposed version

5 CP - Brandenburgers - Elite infiltration specialists (4 man) who can plant demolition charge, throw bundled grenade, stealth, moves through rough terrain with no penalty, armed with STG-44 up-gradable to include a scoped assault rifle which carries damage over greater distances.

8 CP - Signal Jamming - Mirroring your ability

15 CP - Arado bombing strike - 3 Arado bombers fly into the battlefield at high speed to deliver 3x 1000 kg bombs.

Camo for all US units is extreme, considering that double BAR rifleman, vet 3 and now cloaking would make them near impossible to counter as they can close the range. That applies to Sturmpio as well. Cloaking Obersoldaten.........

Radio intercept is fine.

Spawning anything with extremely high close range DPS, with cloak, demo, nades and all out of a building is a bad idea.

Killing the minimap/ spamming the voice is just annoying and unfun.

Please do look at other faction's units/ infiltration units in depth, in particular the stormtroopers, Partisan and Fallschrimjagers. If the unit in your mind have too many inherent advantages over all of them, it is unbalanced.

I personally think Light Infantry Company (Light Infantry as often referring to various spec ops style units like commandos) sounds better.

I also think the infantry you refer to just be Rangers, either as-is or a special variant of. Black Devils were disbanded in Dec 1944, so a little wierd to have such a unit exist in the context of the Bulge, which occurred past it and when the USF is featured. Americans from the unit were also absorbed into Ranger groups, so there's that connection already.

Another idea would be to cloak the officers instead of all units, or conversely, officers get to cloak nearby units via a timed ability button. That way, you have to keep your officer squad from being killed or out of sight to retain the benefit, and any skilled opponent would seek them out in order to negate cloaking benefits.

Overall the theme of the commander seems too narrow- if you broaden it to allow more diverse elements it can be less situational and more appealing.

I agree Nee.

Abilities are easily made to be balanced. Also, I don't see that OKW commander as OP.

Camo Ability-think of Soviet AT gun camo, if it costed muni. This wouldn't be ambush camo like on JLI, Partysans, etc. it would totally remove unit from combat. Uses of ability would be recon/infiltration, not really combat unless your ambushing a tank.

Black Devils-your right on them being Allied Falkimjager. (One black, one green devil.)However, no AT snare, lower alpha damage when they appear, and no vet 5. In return they can go through snow. I also have no qualms with Black Devils being frail/expensive.

Radio jamming-I think it would be a neat ability of done properly.

You were right on with the sneaky bit...until the Incendiary Bombing Run; bombing is not that stealthy like...

It'd be better with like a M24 Chaffee Call in at 6CP or so? Maybe a bit earlier.

Make it able to trade well with a Puma and give it a recon pass ability or something similar to the Valentines recon ability but instead of making it immobile, make it only reveal forward facing but allow it to move at normal speed but unable to shoot.

80% winrate in both 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 is not whining, cookie -the main usf fanboy along with GenObi.

Sneaky commander would be cool, like storms, JLI, Falsch and partisans, a good capping unit with limited AI ability. As it should be when your popping out miles behind someone.

YES THIS, I have been saying this forever. Pathfinders should spamn out of buildings, They are NOT EVEN close to JLI or FALLS in power but it makes no sense that they dont. That would be a simple fix.
