Ostheer - No Free Green Cover.

So why is it that Ostheer is the only faction that cannot lay heavy cover in the early game? Cons can lay sandbags, RE can lay tank traps, Volks can lay sandbags and IS can lay sandbags as well. Grens and Pios have no such option. Discuss.

Not much to discuss here really, relic just said on the stream Q&A that ost does have bunkers as well as doctrinal trenches and other utilities and they don't see the need for them to have more at least for now.
Maybe it's 'cause the Axis players aren't a bunch of forum crybabies, and they keep their cool and fight the uphill battle, unlike some of their "allied" counterparts.

Bunker cost 150 manpower thats a ton! Brits have trenchs at 50 man power and the choice of free sandbags.

The reply Relic Twitch was that bunkers are a green cover option ..
BUT, they are BROKEN. If you put a sniper or any UNIT inside of it they cannot 'see' out beyond about 5 meters and so will not shoot EVEN with line of sight.
Sandboxed this a while ago on different levels of terrain and the upgraded MG can shoot at distance but any other unit will not except very close and not max range even with sight.
TRY IT YOURSELVES... so Relic, if that is our answer PLEASE FIX IT SO IT IS USABLE...
It is rather expensive though... not including the upgrade costs

I'm perfectly well aware of what costs how much.
I'm just forwarding relics answer on that very question here.

Yeah, but Soviets can't build bunkers either.
So the obvious solution here is to remove either sandbags or bunker/fighting positions from USF and OKW.
Really though, I think it'd be simple enough to make bunkers as cover work just fine, just reduce the cost of the bunker's upfront manpower cost, and then add that cost to the upgraded versions of the bunker instead.

Do you really think lmg grens need free green cover to hide behind? Do we really want mg42s behind green cover 100% of the time?
Ostheer is ridiculously strong right now. Free green cover everywhere is the last thing they need.

it is ridiculous that you cant get into enemy trenchs with your units.(same for the bunkers)

Why cant cons get a non doctorinal upgrade? Or soviets get bunkers or usf get mines and a sniper? Besides lmg grens making green cover for themselves is would be op.

Yep. He's quite right. In my experience, garrisoned units in bunkers don't shoot back. It's weird.
