This still baffles me as to why this isn't in the game. Would it really be that OP'd?

I think it would really help late game team games.

Seems kind of similar to the B-4.

It's an AT Gun, not a Howitzer. It'd be more like the Pak 43.

Yeah, but it was more AT rather than propelled arty like the B-4. I was just looking at stuff online and thought this or something similar would be cool in the game. Sov and US AT is pretty lame.

Ohhh, I see what you mean. When I see "field gun" I assume half-arty, half anti tank like the ingame ZiS-3, and the B-4 is kind of an inverted version of that.

Yeah, the B-3 would be a really cool unit to add.

I'd say, make B-4 worse version of a Pak43 (slower reload, rotation, no shooting through evertything) with vet ability to use it as a barrage casue currently it's useless.

There's also a campaign version of the B-4, fires more shells but isn't as devastating. That might overlap with the ML-20 though. Regardless the current design is horrible and relies entirely on one dice roll. I think it'd be worth looking into a B-4 with a weaker outer AoE and 3-4 shots.

It doesn't really match USSR style. Almost everything the soviets have is an all-rounder meaning it's mixes both AI and AT. That's why we have the ISU-152 instead of the SU-100.

There are plenty of units that didn't make it into the game. Don't see why this one is any more necessary then the rest.

thinking about this a bit i actually quite like it. to differentiate it from the pak, and prevent it from being a "same but worse" i'd either give it more damage (400? 420?) and a lower fire rate or 320 and more range. or they could just nerf the abilities some and give them a lower cooldown so it's less of an "all in" unit. right now it's kind of like planes pre nerf in that it gives that "exciting, cinematic" feel to the game; we all know everyone hates that.

DUDE. A faction called the Soviet Elite would be sick. The base unit could be Motosleki.

Besides asymetrical gameplay, the reason why is because SU-85, ISU-152, and now SU-76 fulfill your antitank needs just fine.

What will happen with units like BS3 is either no one uses anything but BS3 because it's so much better...or no one uses BS3 because it's hardly more practical.

If you want late-game team game support, you get one or more of the above.

That's a terrible argument.

By that reasoning Ostheer has schreks, pak-40s, stugs, and panthers which are all better then what soviets have. So why do they have the PAK 43 and elephant?

Ostheer having PaK43 and Elefant is kind of the whole point of asymmetrical gameplay, which disappears when you give Soviets comparable units.

PaK43 and Elefant are both doctrinal and Anti-tank emplacement/ heavy tank. Elefant is comparable to ISU-152 (if not SU-85) so you're really just trying to pretend that unit is like BS-3. PaK43 for it's part is immobile.

Note that most AT units for Soviets are also versatile; ISU-152 is also good against buildings and infantry, SU-76 and AT gun can barrage. Only the SU-85 is a strictly AT vehicle.

Conversely panzerschrecks, StuG and Panthers and PaK40 are going to have a hard time against infantry, because they are (or should be) best against vehicles.
That Ostheer has better AT capabilities mean nothing about Soviets needing something better or the same. Which again, goes back to asymmetrical gameplay.
Regardless, if the problem really is a matter of "Soviets need better AT", then the solution is buffing existing AT, not introduce new units whose sole function is buffing Soviet AT, which also means making existing units obsolete.

That is a very fascinating idea.
