Replace Ost Tank Smoke with Launched Smoke

Panzer Tactician lets you escape from bad micro and over extensions, whereas launched smoke, Sherman style, gives you more tactical options without providing a "get out of jail free card" because launched smoke requires some foresight and planning. For many things this would actually be a buff because it would allow Ost vehicles to support infantry pushes.

Thoughts?

It would be brutally OP because all Ost vehicles get panzer tactician. It would be easy to coat half the battlefield in smoke.

Well, indeed the smoke ability is little bit lousy.

Would be nice like in the Tiger Ace Campaign from Tales of Valor with the smoke dispensers on the tank
Tiger Tank using Smoke Dispenser

But since we are here about that stuff, i would also like to see



Smoke Dispenser used on real models, S-Mines for Tiger Ace, Open/Close the hatchet and also maybe switch between AP/HE rounds, so that the Tiger Ace is not that jack of all trades with its shells

I do like the idea but it should only be regulated to medium tanks (excluding the Panther) considering the Tiger, Elefant, & Panther have enough survivability as is. Maybe keep the same smoke for light vehicles considering how fragile they are.

I like the idea only if the Wehrmacht's smoke option is behind a doctrine like it is now. Wehrmacht's tanks are already have high armor and they don't need non doctrinal "get of jail" free card.

This ability is a hold over from the days of mind control button.

Smoke should take a short time to deploy and never be instant, except in the lightest of vehicles.

the argument is very valid however u failed to mention that Panzer Tactitian is a doctrinal ability and therefore should be a bit better than the standard non doctrinal smoke screen of a sherman.
Besides 5 out of 21 ostheer commanders have panzer tactitian, 3 of which are tiger commanders.
The m20 has the same ability as well and could be considered op for such an already overperforming early game vehicle.

Disagree, Ostheer's smoke is doctrinal and costs munitions, Sherman smoke is non-doc and free. Smoke isn't even the primary 'get-out-of-jail-free-card', that's Blitz. But nobody wants to talk about nerfing Blitz for some reason.

Smoke has counter-play in the form of Attack Ground, Blitz has no counter-play and just lets your turbocharged Panther zoom out of danger in a second.
