Would be totally awesome if the tanks were slow enough or the Brits had some ability that let the tank provide heavy cover while infantry advanced behind it.

There is a hatch on both sides of the tank (amid the tracks), which opens up and the crew sticks out with sten guns. Look at the British Forces video again, and i believe the churchill has that going on.

It's not the same one from the first CoH, which was the Mk IV which had a 57mm on it. This one is the Mk VII which had a 75mm gun better than the 75 on Sherman's.
And as an infantry tank with its peashooter, it fulfilled a role...against the Grosstiere, however, things proved a tad more difficult
