After patch i feel much more confident with MG teams (i played as wermacht).
Is it only in my head or indeed there is significant change in MG usefulness?

Permanently Banned
mg42 insta suppresses

dshk and .50cal now have insane long range damage and dshk can damage light vehicles. 50cal can also but not nearly as good.

maxim is still garbage.

Played 2 matches,Both dhsk and .50 cal are not to be trifled with. They are flankable but if u try to push frontally with LMGs ur gonna bleed hard.
Mg42..solid suppression.2 times garrisoned made an entire rifle LMG blob retreat without being able to do anything .

Overall heavy machine guns now are to be accorded respect provided its has a spotter.I see an overall increase in performance.
I would definitely recommend 2 mg42-2 gren starts for wehrmacht on open maps now if u keep ur pio close and position correctly in mutually support. Also recrew mg42s with pio for sight.

Its not that bad,if the gun has no spotter u will still lose it to an attack.
But the days of charging frontally and crawling into range sitting there while other unit flanks is over,if u do that u will lose the squad.Smoke still works well.

If HMG are overperforming, then dont nurf again, rather make the more expensive...

Rather have an HMG that will suppress in arc than huge blobs roaming around...
Atleast this open a play for other supports weapons more.

MG42's at launch were only OP because of their traverse speed. If they'd just slowed down the traverse speed and left everything else alone it would of saved 2 years of exasperation :P

So is it viable to incorporate the .50 Cal into USF build orders now?

Perhaps you have missed the change from some time ago, making pios a spotting squad.

Sorry, but you have absolutely no excuse this patch.

If you'll be losing, its because you suck so much.

@Napalm

While we're back to 1st month HMG suppression, at least it doesn't have insta traverse like it used to.
Say good bay to using rifles without mandatory early nades though.

that and how long it took to kill anything made suppression really powerful.

I played a handful of 2v2s and one 1v1 tonight. My knee jerk reaction would be they are a bit much, but I want to play more games with more factions before definitively having an opinion.

It is nice to be able to hard counter blobs now without having to use CAS or praying to RNGesus for the miracle 120mm shots :foreveralone:

Lol,thats what i said u need to keep a pio nearby to get best out of it.I have never made an excuse abt mg42 from the time they buffed long range accuracy.

And no its not just mg42,the american HMG is a total beast now.

In 2v2's at least they are now an absolute weapon.

Covering maps with them and reinforcing from mobile HT's is now a serious threat to my poor riflemen.

Going to have to get better with smoke I think......

P.S 50 cal feels like it's (maybe) now worth the 280mp

So you are telling me MGs perform like machine guns? I have to play this game so hard. If I just wasn´t stuck at work.
