I had a nightmare that I got into the alpha but it was actually just a new Russian faction themed around Bagration.

Your nightmare is my dream, heheh...

But for now, bring on the British!

My personal theory is that if the Brits are themed around late-war Italian campaign, the new OKW commanders could be themed around this too, providing Italian auxiliaries to the core German army.

So basically Mobile Defense Doctrine B-)

I actually don't see what would be particularly wrong with that. :)

I don't really like the idea of letting anyone sign up. Alpha testing is important in that the players participating can influence the balance of the game; with this is mind, only top 100 players from 1v1 and 2v2 ranked should be allowed to enter. I definitely wouldn't have faith in the balance team if Relic accepted a rank 2000 Rus only player into the Alpha.

Would that mean that you would lost faith in the balance if you got in?

Last time discussions on balance and feedback was really good and you could extremely easily see the "limited" players and just disregard them.

There still needs to be somewhat meaningful poll of players to get as much automatch games as possible to spot and possibly solve the problems. Mistakes of OKW should not be repeated.

I'm a top 100 player in ranked 2v2, so obviously a spot should be reserved for me(If I do decide to sign up) but anyone with a rank higher than 200 in 1v1 and 2v2 ranked shouldn't be in the Alhpa; there should be plenty of players in the top200 though for Alhpa testing, instead of only a handful of individuals.

Oh top 100 2v2 with OKW only, what a surprise.

Has anyone received notification that they are in this alpha? (PS: this is different from the balancing alpha)

In yesterdays stream she stated notifications would go out to everybody regardless if you are picked or not and that some could come earlier than the 28th. So keep your eyes peeled on inbox (and possibly your junk mail box too).

To be fair, for the general balancing and details i would agree, but counter mechanics still need to be feasible for the common casual crowd.
There's no point in having a game where half the counters can only be used by a handful of players.

If they let only top 100 players there would be not enough people to play and test fresh updates over course of beta.

Just have "Show playercard" around the avatar on the forums. This would make reading some comments way faster.

Playercards are just a way for people to tell each other why their opinions don't matter

How much you have played a faction matters a lot more than rank. There is a large amount of people who comment on the design of factions they have literally never played more than two or three times.

Yup. A good game designer (in terms of balance in this case) is not necessarily a skilled gamer. A good car designer is not necessarily a good driver. Although, game knowledge is tied to skill level to some extent.

You don't judge the quality of a post by the playercard.
But a bad quality post, in combination with constant whining, with a single faction played on a single mode at a "scrub" level...Yeah, i'm gonna keep wasting time reading it or waste time discussing with.
