Changing IS2 back to 240 damage

The whole reason the is2 has 160 damage and 6 second reload is because long ago the penetration was capped at 170 for all vehicles. Which led to a lot of bouncing, given the long reload it made the is2 super inconsistent. Much like the jackson was.

But now with its much higher penetration I'm certain that it can return back to its former aesthetic glory.
The changes I propose are:
  • Reload of 9-10 seconds
  • 33% damage upon deflection.
  • Slightly increased accuracy
  • Fixing the broken scatter angles of the is2.
  • 240 damage

And of course calling it in would require t3, or t4.

Think it would need a little bit of a Fuel increase, but It would be nice to not have m,y IS2 missing INF all day.

Nope, just no. Making the reload even slower only increases the influence of RNG, something that the IS2 is already suffering pretty bad of (certainly against infantry).

Not really sure what would be the point of it.
Don't fix what isn't broken.
Its accuracy is completely horrible against infantry, but thats pretty much it.

As far as VS infantry goes it's fairly standard as far as the heavy tanks go. It's scatter distance is only 1.4 higher than that of the Tigers and they both have the same scatter angle. But it does have a much less harsh AoE profile making 1 shots with the IS2 more common than with the Tiger.

With 240 damage, it could wipe squads as much as the KT does thanks to doing more damage farther out.

The reason why it isn't like this anymore is because it's really hard to balance the AI with AT.
The reload would be so long that it would either suck vs infantry or 1 hit kill everything. Both of which is bad.

Actually the IS2 really is OP. It should stay the same but with less frontal armour.

Agreed.

IS-2s having the same frontal armor as King Tigers is not logic. One is an end of tech tree tank for almost double the initial fuel cost, the other one can be spammed within the doctrine and requires no tech.

If the KT has its frontal armor nerfed for Allies to fight it frontally, the same logic should apply to the IS-2.

The IS-2 actually is more survivable than the KT now since it can move faster eventually leading to the IS-2 being the way cheaper and even better performing tank.

IS-2s really have become a problem.

It 1 shots if it's able to hit its target. But that's a rare phenomenon. I don't care if there's a difference of 1.4 or 1.4*10^9, the Tiger will hit infantry far more often than the IS-2.

Scatter distance is how far the shot may go in front or behind of the target while scatter angle is a cone in degrees coming from the weapon that the shot may go on from the sides. So I guess that's probably why the IS-2 is so much more inaccurate against infantry with just 1.4 more scatter distance - big scatter angle makes every little bit of scatter distance change a lot of difference in practice.

IS-2 is fine now, it doesnt need to get changed, when it had 9-10 second reload, it basically hit infantry with every shot (due to low scatter), usually wiping them with 1 shot, so you could shoot & scoot and protect it vs enemy armor with ZIZ AT guns

And if it goes anywhere near that performance in this squad-bunching age, anything on legs it looks at will be dead without exception.

IS-2s are already almost uncounterable in 1v1s...they deserve a nerf, mostly armor

OKW has zero issues. Just make Panther more accessible by reducing the MP cost for Ost teching.

The cost is the issue for OKW...if you are against a good soviet he'll have 2 IS-2s + ATG by the time of the first P5.

Ost has more issues as the high armor of the Is-2 bounces PAK and T3 shots very often, also PAKs do shit because mostly the incendiary arty burns them. Is-2 outperforms the Tiger as well.

I played shit tons of 1v1s, 2v2s but IS-2s are a massive problem for axis :P

Just make it like the King Tiger's gun, that gun works well enough.
