How is this unit worth anything at all? It comes at t4 and can't even kill ATG. It only shoots once and is worth 85 fuel???

I got over 50 kills with it in a 2v2 recently... it's a piece of utter crap though. I would take an Ostheer mortar over it any day.

With the way that blobbing is encouraged, every faction NEEDS effective self-propelled artillery / rocket trucks.

Pwerfer, even when used optimally, just isn't a deterrent like the Katyusha or Walking Stuka.

US has the Priest, but could do with the Calliope as well.

Panzerwerfer works well against blobs. Get a pair. Fire at retreat path.

its porpuse mostly is to kill soviet sniper blobs and 1 panzerwerfer does nothing against soviet t2, you need minimum 2 to be productive.

O.o

the thing is shocking, and also a great reminder of relic's poor design decisions. it used to be in T3, and they were so completely confident it belonged there they recorded voice for it. oops!

and what are you on? the ost mortar is godlike.

Mortar ht is better than werfer. This fireworks-shooting thing needs cost and/or cooldown reduction badly. And better vet ability. Katy precision strike is useful, while counter barrage is worst vet ability in the game.

It just needs range, the spread on it is waaaaaay to huge compared to the katyusha at mid range.

EDIT: That or it needs to fire more rockets like it originally did.

It also uses the wrong model. The in-game vehicle doesn't look anything like the real one.

Don't shoot it from max distance into fog of war, drive closer, unload, back off, its highly mobile and quick to fire for that specific reason.

It dies in literally one shot, even shooting it at medium distance is ineffective due to the fact it's scatter was never fixed after the amount of rockets it fired was reduced and they changed how artillery works.

You need to be extremely close in order to hit anything with a reasonable amount of accuracy, and when it dies in literally 1 shot to any explosive weapon and dies easy to small arms fire that's a tough proposition.

It's also very very expensive due to teching. It costs almost as much to get a Panzerwerfer than to get a Tiger.

It also inferior to the Katyusha in every way despite costing just as much.

Katyusha suffers the same, while Stuka survives such shots just fine. It's not right, I would agree for both rocket launchers to be as survivable as Stuka.

You're right, but shot blockers help. I've had fun with it on Semois.

It spends less time firing rockets, which is a big plus. It can benefit from Artillery Field Officer and it has the better vet ability; both are used to kill enemy artillery when Panzerwerfer has it for free, and with a range, and accuracy bonus, with no cooldown. Katyusha is more prominent in games because only OKW's blobs are really threathening to every unit throughout late game, thanks to Volks with schreks.

Pssst, I have a secret for you

And don't compare it to katyusha, they are both rocket arty, that is one and only common thing they have, one is slow and its barrage is area saturation/denial, other one is mobile and is meant to deliver alpha strike and back off.

T-70 and SU-76 also have same cost, are in different tiers and are guns equipped on T-70 chassis.
Similar doesn't equal to same and contrary to what you firmly believe, axis are not supposed to have everything superior.

The issue is the Werfer costs a lot more, and yes the Stuka does need a bit of a survivability nerf.

Problem is even with shotblockers you can get unlucky very easily and lose it, right now it's just not justified in it's performance for the cost.

A move to T3 wouldn't be that bad.

It may spend less time firing the rockets, but the problem is that your not actually hitting anything with the rockets so the actual damage done is much lesser than that of a Katyusha.

Counterbalance is ultimately inferior to precision strike because I KNOW what's at the other end is going to die, with counter barrage you can't chose what your unit attacks, and you don't know if it will kill it or not.

The Artillery Field officer does help some, but the Werf shouldn't have to need it to be effective.
