One of the less intelligent threads i've ever read. I mean really, Grens turn into Obersoldaten? Have you ever played against Obersoldaten? Ostheer has 4 Infantry units, Grenadiers, Assault Grenadiers, Stormtroopers and PGrens. Two of them are doctrinal and one is too expensive to be spammed as a baseline infantry. So we have only one main infantry left, which is only able to be usefull in the lategame with lmg42, considering that the ostheer is often lacking ammunitions, especially in the early game, lmg42s are a heavy investment. And your proposal is to make the only weapon ostheer has to compete in the lategame far too expensive? Well i think you should gather some facts here and rethink your whole idea of them being op.

I would increase it to 70.

Why the hell does the doctrinal USF lmg, which is worse, cost 70mun?

Make that 90 munis then so better performance is justified ;)

It is because vanilla Riflemen beat vanilla Grens.

Considering that this upgrade turns a basic unit into ubersoldaten, I think its cost needs to be increased.

I also added a poll, but received error 500.

Here arethe poll options:

90 Mun.

120 Mun.

Also, once again as a Soviet fanboy, I can confidently say that I'm very confident I feel the difference between Grens and Obers. For a start, one unit can assault my units whilst at the same time using that damn MG...

Can't you just state your little opinion without undermining others' IQ? Most of the time when I play as OKW I use infrared soldaten for blob cleansing, so I know how they perform. LMG42 turns Grens turn into unvetted obers.

You guys may want to forget the comparison and focus on the main topic thanks.

Can grenadiers fire their lmgs on the move?
Do grenadiers have bundled grenades?
Do grenadiers get access to smoke, later on?

Obersoldaten are in a different league of performance, Obersoldaten are elite late game infantry, grenadiers are core base infantry. Main issue, grenadiers are ok, they already have a hard enough time with riflemen.

On the other hand it is used by a more durable 5 men squad. Though I have to admit that the price difference is odd.

Only the paratrooper M1919 fires on the move. The infantry company variant does not. The ability to equip any squad with it is not particularly useful. As infantry company your non-rifleman options are rear echelons, lieutenant, and major.

None of these options are as good as putting it on riflemen because only riflemen benefit from defensive stance. Rear echelons can volley fire them for decent suppression but this only increases the huge munitions price tag. The lieutenant has a thompson and BAR and therefore is best suited to firing on the move at mid-close range, so the LMG makes little sense for him. Putting LMGs on your major is simply trollolol.

Oh, and vehicle crews.

Not really considering the gren rec acc modifier as well as much better vet bonuses.

Rifles are pretty potent early game, but they scale much worse then penals and weapon upgrades are the only thing to keep them relevant.

Are LMGs just too cost effective or is Gren vet jus too good?

As mostly Soviet player I think grens are fine. Just in case if anyone cares of my opinion, y'know.
