Does anyone think that paras effect economy too much?

I feel like they don't perform good enough to justify their cost..

They are just paradropped elite 6 men squads with the option to either upgrade to powerful double LMG's or close range thompsons. They only have the same reinforcement cost as Rifles even though being elite infantry. And they only can reinforce from radio beacons.

Man...these Paras are underperforming :guyokay: I think a cost decrease should do the trick.. to maybe 25 mp?

Yes, but Airborne were also always expensive to reinforce in vCoH.....unit preservation demands that you take care of them, surely?

I don't know how I feel about Paras. I really want to like them but 380 MP + 120 muni to make them actually useful is a lot to pay for a unit that only barely competes with Obers - and they tend to drain a lot of MP due to their lack of armour and large squad size. I know the extra cost is supposed to compensate for their ability to drop behind enemy lines but, honestly, you could remove that ability entirely and I wouldn't notice because I am never going to dump that much MP just to have them all shot trying to retreat back to my lines.

Don't forget that with Thompsons they become the highest close range dps squad in the game

That doesn't have armor, range, camo(falls, storms), rec acc modifiers or sprint to actually use that dps by the time they reach the target.

But hey, they got ability that allows axis to gun them down 50% faster!

Does anyone have the actual stats for what that ability specifically does?

More than shocks, more than stg44 obers.

USF has the most amount of smoke abilities out of the 4 factions. Also why would you use the ability in the open? Use it only when you're in green cover. Same with stormtrooper stg44s

I'm pretty sure they get 4 now. I've found the upgrade pretty dubious all the same because they seem to get shot to pieces by LMG troops before they even come close most of the time. Even post-nerf, the M1919s are more reliable.

My experiences are it is map dependent. CQB in a City call's for the Thompsons.

Yep I stop using this commander for this reason, drop a couple of para then you are staved for mp for the rest of the game. The upkeep cost is so expensive I actually notice it when you build paratroopers

You could use smokes to get them close, but even then they take too much damage too fast for this to be a viable strategy.
