There's a lot of discussion around faction balance and I thought it might be a good idea to make a poll about it. A lot of arguments say that game size is a large factor, so I thought I'd gather opinions on all the different modes.

I think, in 1v1, generally stronger early game is favors allied. 2v2 Maybe well balanced, 3v3+ for more chance going into a late game, favors axis, with better heavy-super heavy tanks. I play most of time 1v1, 2v2.

Strength of the allies side depends how many USF players you have on your team. The more you have the weaker you become. With 3/4 soviets in 4v4 versus axis its well balanced id say

2v2 depends on the map, small maps favours axis who can camp easier and stukawipe the narrow paths. larger maps is better for allies because of easier harassing and flanking.
For the rest 2v2 is balanced but not very well. Both sides hinge on a couiple of key units forgoing most of the arsenal.

I really only play 1v1's, so I can't comment on the other game types. However, I think the balance issues are more complicated than just axis or allies being stronger.

Soviet vs. Wermacht is mostly well balanced, and U.S. vs. OKW is pretty close as well. The other two match ups are a bit worse for a variety of reasons.

Every faction should be equal at all times. Bottom line

Map and faction combinations are something that should be taken into account, specially for 2v2.

1v1 is balanced with their respectives armies, USF vs OKW and OH vs SU. When mixed, strange things happen.
Same with 2v2 and specially taking into account certain maps and combinations. I would give my edge to Allies here.

3v3+ Axis.

Interesting that 2v2 is the most played, and apparently also most regarded as balanced.

I was expecting more votes for 1v1 being the most balanced but apparently not.

Generally, i find that 1v1 is pretty balanced.

2v2 is skewed in allies favor.

3V3 and 4v4 is axis land

Honestly 4 faction 2v2 (USF+SOV vs OKW+OST) is just great fun - the pinnacle of this game - for me it's where the CoH games shine better than any other RTS. I think axis might have a slightly better synergy than allies at the moment (with commander choices and playstyles), but it's generally very well balanced as both factions can exploit synergies really well.

I'm a pretty big 4v4 player, and while Axis are favoured generally because unlike in smaller game modes their trucks can be better supported by teammates, there are periods in the game where Allies have a significant upper hand over Axis (most prominently the stage where you get your first 1-2 medium tanks out). The super late game however does tip over to axis simply because of units that stand up in the endgame units like obers, jagdtiger etc - the rest is generally decent. However due to matchmaking it's very hard to find 8 players ALL of similar skill to really know what's happening, usually you get even 1 matchup where 1 player will dominate another and then carry over to help teammates etc.

I say it's EFA > WFA in 1v1s (with some exception like rifle company).
2v2 is the most balanced/fun game mode, anything above it is axis favored and has nothing to do with balance.

2v2 is broken. fuel cache spam > t34(85) & sherman spam = gg

even if you hold the fuels for more than half of the time they still spam so many medium tanks

i dont think, that 2v2 favours allies generally
imho americans are pretty weak in 2v2 without the rifle commander, and 2 amis would probably lose agaisnt everything, that is thrown at them
soviets on the other hand are really strong, especially in the lategame with the isu
i mostly play 2v2 at with amis+soviets and overall axis seem to be a little more forgiving

Oh I disagree

IMO 2vs2 favours allies. Especially the early/mid game is very strong
I have a very hard time, to deal with the sov. sniper/guards/ISU strat and definitely the allies seems to be more forgiving. 2 Sniper and I can instant retreat a gren squad or any other squad.
The late game favours the OKW/OH. :)

I can't believe Fuel Cache spam is a legit strategy.

2vs2 mixed factions will be great when Gren+LMG gets addressed, and Soviets have a useful non-doctrinal infantry unit.

Soviets will never have a non doctrinal infantry unit that will be as good as OH Grenadirs or US Rifles because this is not how this faction was designed. This is why PPSH is a doctrinal upgrade.

I don't get why you guys can't understand that.
