American player here, how is the Kubel weak?

I focus fire on it and nothing can hit it. It's a fairly effective suppression weapon. It scales like shit but it's a pure early game unit. Especially on a map where you have an endangered cutoff

It's considered weak because it's only good in the situation you described: 1v1, versus american. Even then, it will die to a proper flank or to a vet 1 riflemen squad.

The only thing going for it after the first few minutes is the huge sight it has.

I've faced some people who were good enough to be able to keep their kubel in the fight until AT guns came out at ~10 mins

The kubel / volk / sturmpio synergy is strong

Kubelwagons are pretty strong if you keep them stationary like you'd do with an HMG right before an assault. Even with some focus fire, I my Rifleman can't help but get pinned before killing it.

Add Sturmpioneer or Volksgrenadier grenades into the mix and you've got a rather potent early game strat.

The most I can tell you to do is get an early Grenades Package upgrade. It costs 25 fuel, but it'll be well worth it. The M23 Smoke Rifle Grenade in particular will blind a vehicle if it's hit by it, keeping the weapons from shooting. Take that opportunity to get up close and turn it to scrap metal, or finish it off with a frag grenade (which takes off about half health, nice finisher if you're willing to use the munitions).

I think the Kubel is a fantastic unit in skilled hands (partially map dependendent, but I've had some good players position it amazingly and win games with them early on in 1v1s), but you really can't make any mistakes with it or it will just explode when a stiff breeze rolls its way.

There could be some minor balance issues (i.e. slightly undeperforming considering it doesn't scale at all), but I'd want to sort the rest of the game before we touch the Kubel. Really minor issues, if any.

It isnt weak if used properly.
Or if the driver decides to not be drunk.(pathfinding doesnt screw you over)

and its actually Perf against double US on maps like Minsk pocket.

I've found it to be a very good early game unit that can tip that first engagement in your favor. The health and armor is fine considering it doesn't cost any fuel with its performance to suppress and high mobility.

The biggest problem is pathfinding and when it decides to SLOWLY turn 180 degrees or move forward when you tell it to reverse...

riflemen have .5 accuracy at max range. multiply that by kubels target size of 10 and you have a 500% chance to hit. you could even be suppressed at max range and still have a 125% chance to hit the kubel. i think its safe to say, your shots are not missing.

Scaling isn't a huge issue IMO since vet 1 lets you see cloaked units (snipers) in the fog of war and you can salvage it :P

its strong, to everything except a m3 and dodge, which then it melts against it.

its super powerful with sturmpio support, because going close and getting flanked is its weakness, sp makes sure nothing gets close before it pins stuff down and repairs any damage to it too.

if you are having problems, play m3 or dodge, wait out for him before you choose a doctrine. or get ur mate to do it and watch kubels melt.

to be honest, its far too hard countered but far too resilient against everything else for my tastes.
