If they're worried about the finances of young gamers, then why not give out all additional content for free? Or lower the prices to half price or less.
Either you want everyone to have the same fun experience, and access to the same content, or you don't.

At the moment people with a lot of free time have the advantage over those who live busy lives.

Just bot farm the game and you will get the commanders you want without having to spend time playing. The commanders are linked to what faction you are using.

As much as I hate these kind of things, in this particular case I do advise everyone who can't play all the time and actually have other things to do, to do this.

Maybe then relic will rethink their commander policy and adjust war spoils system somehow or let us buy them.
Its most important and most meaningful content for multiplayer and we are down to "who got more time and luck" to get them.

It's sad when we're reduced to bot farming to get the things that we want.

What a broken system.

would everyone agree that the following would fix the war spoils system ?

1. no more duplicates (no duplicate commanders, skins, faceplates, no more than 3 duplicate bulletins - if and only if they stack)

2. let all items be purchased for those that have more money than time (that would be me)

3. let those that have more time than money grind for the spoils

4. have a system in place that at certain intervals of leveling something special is given (commander, bulletin, faceplate or skin) (that does not drop via war spoils) (say every 10 levels you get something special)

5. war spoils can remain random, but they would be more tied to the faction you play and the units you use. silly for a OKW player (if that is the only faction they play) to receive items for the soviets which they might have no desire to play.

anyone agree ?

I agree, also. I just don't have the time.

Another thing I find a bit..off..is the assumption that's been going around in this forum that Relic is not profiting much from the war spoils system. The P2W commanders compromised the image of the game, and now that's done away with, they have set up an award system that only unlocks the full version of WFA (6 WFA commanders) after maybe 200 hours (my estimate).

I believe, in fact, that they could be profiting more even- perhaps not in the short term but in long run by encouraging server usage, gaming addiction, WW2 interest, and long term loyalty to the franchise.

I said it once, I say it again.
Guys this game is about playing not about unlocking every little piece of crap. The war spoils is an extra thing besides playing matches with friends and/or against others.

This is what Call of Duty made of the gaming community.
Everyone is crying when they don't get the Uber-Weapon-OP-88 after every game.

And you were wrong then and you're wrong now.

Wanting the opportunity to play the new commanders isn't "wanting every little piece of crap" is it?

Why can't we just buy them?

I agree most bulletins and all skins are just pointless little additions, but you can't deny that Commanders are integral to multiplayer. Having something that important behind a grind-wall that relies entirely on luck of the draw is ridiculous for a game that's meant to be 'competitive'.

As I said, I wouldn't mind if they left the spoils system in for commanders so long as they also had the option to buy them somehow so people who want to play multiplayer can just drop $5, get the three commanders for their faction and use them without having to wait days/weeks.

Here is thread about it- including evidence about the odds of winning and how much farming is needed. Use a desktop with a good cooling system, leave it on with AI battles (on the lowest graphics setting), and go to do other things. Make sure the battles end @ 2:30, 3:00 or 3:30 total as the drops reset the timer.

I am farming until I get rifle company-which I estimate will take me a max of 40 hours as the system of rewards is partially linked to the factions that you use.

Some people (me for example) aren't willing to pay in addition to a full priced game.
If people buy the commanders with money, they get an advantage to the players that don't.
This is pay2win.
And thank god Relic stopped this strategy with WFA.

The thing is that the boxes could appear a bit more often.
But IMO players will keep whining unless 3 or more boxes appear after every game.

This system 'war spoils' is also pay to win. The costs are of a more intangible and indirect source.

Play to win seems like a legit system to me, only that the current system is a good idea in its basic idea but flawed in its execution.

Jesus Christ... epic logic fail.

Grind2Win is just as bad as Pay2Win.

Time is money for some of us.
