Well there is a difference. Overdrive is MEANT to be used as an escape ability to get away from tanks. It's low health and easily taken out quickly by any AT so it's not that big of a deal. Though I'm not saying it might not to be changed.

Blitz on the other hand was meant to be used as a offensive ability to help flank SU-85s and anti-tank guns. The problem is it was mainly used to escape bad situations where they should have been destroyed otherwise. Considering that most german tanks are already very durable and smoke is really supposed to be their defensive skill it gave them much more survivabilty then the developers intended.

It actually makes more sense for a car or halftruck to step on it, then it makes on a tiger.

The overdrive doesn't bother me that much, I think it might needs a little change but not that much as the blitz.

They didn't say they were removing, just changing it. Maybe you won't be able to activate it while in combat so you can only use it aggresively. Either way I'm sure it will still help fight SUs.

Maybe now you have to think about how to charge the su's, instead of just pressing le 40 ammo button :)

If a T34 can flank a panther you shouldn't have trouble flanking a su-85 with a P4.

It's true that 85s are a nightmare for German armor on large open spaces. But I look at it as a strategic issue.

Ostheer still has the godly Schrecks and PaKs, who can comfortably get into range and hurt the SUs. And due to Soviet inflexibility by design, the player who went for SUs does not have t34s, t70s, antiair presence nor field reinforcement. So he made a conscious investment into pure heavy antitank, locking himself out of all these t3 goodies, and all the while nothing in this investment can really touch your Panzergrens or PaKs... and you still want to be able to defeat all this by just plain CHAERG-ing armour at them, the ONLY thing SU85s are meant to counter?

That is all without taking into consideration the PaK 43s and Elefants since they are both doctrinal, but if you pick a doctrine with them, the equation on Langres reverses in favour of the Ostheer player.

How to Counter SU-85's? Christ how about building the Infantry Based AT that Germans are luxurious enough to have, or Paks? It's possible that the SU-85, the slow dedicated Tank Destroyer with no turret and or anti infantry, little armour and little health may be decent against Tanks? Panthers and Tigers will still be able to dual with them head on. DEspite Panthers and Tigers not being dedicated AT, having Anti infantry and a turret and faster. With smoke and Blitz.

Not too mention su85 easily can be shrecked, bombed, flanked and Artied when in long range mode.

Mortar smoke.
Pak40 push.
Shreck push.

All these in conjunction with the blitz tank push on Langres work.

I actually have no problem with Blitzkrieg on T3 tanks since Blitzkrieg no longer functions on disabled engines. It is only tricky with Panthers because the SU-85 just don't have enough damage to cause a threat on approach, at grenades fail more and the panther does more AT damage.

I would like to see how Relic address Blitzkrieg. I have heard many people suggest that at the end of the Blitzkrieg ability the engine should become over heated, however I believe this will create to much risk and vulnerability. Decreasing the length of time blitzkrieg remains active is a much more suitable response since a Ostheer tank has the ability to change 3-4 directions. Minimizing for 1-2 direction short bursts of movement seems much more fair in my eyes.
