Simple question: Would you prefer sending manpower and fuel on having a Tiger or going T4 and getting a Panther?

I'd say it depends on the enemy, if he has multiple tanks around and really not much infantry that poses a threat, I'd go for a Panther.

Tiger 80% of the time, its much better against infantry, has more Armour at front and rear, the damage is pretty much the same, and the vet bonuses seem to make him more valuable than a Panther.

Only go for Panther if they got hordes of T-34's which can ram, and the Panther is fast and has big range. Also seems to be very good at killing Su-85's if you get vet 1 Blitzkrieg mode.

Its situational, overal I personally prefer a Panther, better to flank and can avoid getting rammed

would love to see a breakdown of costs for each to compare. cant seem to find all the relevant stats for cost of teching to phase 3, the t4 buildings, and then the panther itself.

Tigers are better at cementing victories, Panthers are better for staying in the fight. If you're winning vs Soviets you can bring out the Tiger to take out anything they have, but if you're losing or tied they can ram your Tiger till it works and then prevent you from repairing it with infantry.

I'd go for a tiger personally, not only for stats but because it just looks so darn monstrous.

In 1vs1, I would choose tiger because the first tiger will cost you about 60 fuel less than getting the first panther. Even a second tiger would be cheaper in terms of fuel by 5 fuel. My calculation: 115 fuel to tech from t2 to t4 and build it, then 145 fuel to build the panther. That adds to 260 fuel. While for the tiger you can simply stop teching at t2 and need to spend 200 fuel for getting it. A second tiger costs you again 200 fuel while the panther only costs you another 145 but you still have to take the plus 60 fuel from the first panther into account. That only consideres fuel of course. Tiger costs you 180 mp more than a panther but that is neglectable in my opinion.

In 2vs2 it depends from what your mate does. There is no general recommendation possible from my perspective.

Indeed, after the 1st heavy tank, the cost differences are negligible. It's more about the strats.

My preferred first two is this:

1. Brummbar, Panther (most of the time- I just find the Panther to be more effective against SU-85s/SU-76 sniping than the Tiger)

2. Panther, Brummbar-If I have to clear SU, if soviet goes T3 I stick to Brummbar first.

3. Tiger, Tiger -It takes two tigers firing at the same infantry target to get some good entity kills. Double tigers suffer from slowness and weakness against SU, engine damage, and Zis.

4. Brummbar, Tiger- My least used combo. Good AI but not good enough against AT

Though I'd prefer panthers the tiger has one major advantage:
You don't have to invest the recourses 'till you actually call the tiger in.

If you desperately need a unit (let's say an AT-gun) you can immediately buy one while saving up MP and fuel for the tiger.
You can't do the same while teching to t4 as the invested recourses are pretty much gone.

So, as crazy as it sounds:
I think the ponderously slow tiger is the more flexible strategic choice.

I agree completely with Madok.
I mostly use the Tiger especially because I can just call it.

In pßerspective though usually I have to wait for the resources for a Tiger while I would have had a Panther earlier because it costs less.
