This is worrying:

"next week we’ll share more information about what’s coming up for the game."

Its DoW3 all over again.

Today the game came out 3 months ago, good timing with this statement from Relic.

Now everything makes sense? Slow patches, still no replays, no new maps and last balance patch was almost 1 month ago. After all, they have been fooling us all this time. On the other hand, I feel bad when people lose their jobs, I hope they find opportunities in other companies.

While I personally hate to see things like this happen, Relic 100% deserved this.

The last good game that they launched was Dawn of War 2. Every game after that has been an epic failure on release. Company of Heroes 2 launch, Dawn of War 3, Age of Empires 4 and now Company of Heroes 3 have all had terrible launches.

Combine that with anti-consumer tactics (Modding has been stripped/locked down compared with COH1 to make way for DLC)

Recycling the same game numerous times with the same bugs across all titles Relic got what they deserved. They really needed to put out some quality work but instead they were too busy damaging their brand with how lazy they are.

For example tooltips that are not accurate, broken things left in the games for monthes.

Relic used to make top quality products. Now they only make trash.

Maybe they'll hire good coders for a change and people who know how to balance before the community takes over and ruins it.

Apparently the affected employees get a 30 minute notice before getting fired. What the hell...

And how much there was talk about a live server and many years of support. It made no sense to believe Relic already with CoH2. And Sega, including, who, after justified criticism of the CoH2 campaign, they promised to fix everything and just began to remain silent and I think they just scored on supporting CoH2. Instead of making a really interesting DLC for the Soviets with a good single player campaign and a new Soviet faction.

What is good game to time sink in?

FF14 MMORPG?

It is the end for COH. Relic failed hard.

Best wishes to those laid off. The bosses at relic needed to go!

They finished to do the game on console and can't sustain so much people now that the game is completed.

https://www.eurogamer.net/relic-leaves-dawn-of-war-3-behind-as-it-moves-on-to-new-projects

Dawn of War 3's loyal player base was deemed too small to justify further investment in the game, with Relic and Sega chiefs expressing doubt that updates could turn things around. The decision to leave Dawn of War 3 behind means no new races will be added to the game, nor any expansions released, which will come as a disappointment to fans. Dawn of War 3 launched with just three races (Space Marines, Orks and Eldar) and the expectation was more would be added post-launch.

We first heard Relic had considered Dawn of War 3's future late in 2017, but today Relic, via publisher Sega, issued Eurogamer a statement addressing the issue. The statement, below, is ambiguous in that it suggests Relic is still working out Dawn of War's future, but we understand there are no plans for new contente.

You just know that those 121 people were probably the underpaid employees struggling to finish the game under the poor leadership that has been evident every step of the way, and not the management themselves. Satoru Iwata took a personal pay cut and encouraged all his executives to do the same when things didn't go well under their direction - you'll never see a Western studio do anything like that.

Lets hope the entire mouthbreathing managment was fired and shit gets done now.
But who am i kidding, time to let go of that last slither of hope, of coh3 becoming decent.

Fuck, that's cold man. Holding out hope that Gabby's "still committed to COH3" isn't just empty words and we can at least still get slow patches as before (and probably count ourselves lucky Relic didn't go full DOW3 on us)

How can it not be empty words? Relic strung along Dawn of War III players with promises of an "update" for two months before it was revealed that the "update" was that the game was being euthanized. They've done this whole thing before, with the exception that this time their survival as a company is in jeopardy.

My bets why this happened:
*ESG

ESG = A feel-good scam.

Speaking of corporate power, people need to learn the big difference between real entrepreneurship vs financial parasites (robber barons) /fraud/unethical business practices.

For those interested in real entrepreneurship this Youtube channel is a good example;
https://www.youtube.com/@VALUETAINMENT

Also walking the talk;
Patrick Bet-David Offers Tucker Carlson $100 Million To Join Valuetainment;

How ESG Is Destroying American Corporate Culture;

Just one of many unethical business practice;
As the war drums start beating, corporate shills either get in line or get fired. As with Tucker Carlson, the same thing happened to Phil Donahue as he dared to do real journalism before the Iraq war;
https://www.nytimes.com/2003/02/26/business/msnbc-cancels-the-phil-donahue-talk-show.html

When Chinese state media is doing more journalism than Western legacy media (corporate propaganda machine), you know that these financial parasites/robber barons have gone completely off the rails.

Hiring for diversity instead of merit didn't paid off, eh, relic?

Well, one way or another, we'll know before the end of the year if it'll stand up or gets scrapped up.
