Why Stuart is sh*t compared to T70

Stuart is a victim of itself more than the t70. Used to be pretty OP once upon a time

It's always been better against armor than t70 but it used to be pretty strong against infantry too. Thing is USF didn't need it to be good vs inf like sovs do for the t70

At least USF has a light tank. Look at OST.

OST is fine with good LV 222.
Problem is OKW who requires to sacrifice healing over LV (therefore nobody goes for tier2 anymore), or UKF who has THE WORST LV AEC for its price.

T70 can carry the whole faction.

If you're playing against a retarded ape.

The very first thing decent players do nowadays when playing against sov is rush t1 and pump out 2 atgs. Just one contact with the enemy and t70 is a burning pile of metal. It's even better with OKW since they have t0 ATG.

My point being: sure, T70 is a deadly tank for its price, but it has become so commonplace it lost its edge by the sheer number of players using it.

The Stuart is decent but it is over priced. USF already has excessively costly fuel costs related to teching, it needs to be compensated somewhere on fuel costs. I supposed one way to do it would be to knock 5-10 off the cost of one or more of it's light vehicles.

60 fuel for a Stuart, 15 for an M20.

It does seem a bit backwards. Stuart sounds better in sov faction for combined arms, while t70 sounds better in US for early aggro.

But then wolverines would have to be stock and Jackson a call in I guess. /rambling

Combined arms. Stuart is supposed to be used with your infantry. It can deny an ostwind if combined with zook and AT grenade. It also can deny almost any tank combined with Sherman or Jackson. It is situational, but you will almost face that situations if you play versus players of yours same level. Otherwise, you can make a great pressure with it and go for cutoff points or you won't reach major if your opponent is much better...

I had the privilege yesterday to vet1 my stuart with 0 kill while only fighting infantry. Maybe if there is a next patch modding team should give it the share veterancy thing.

If you buy 2 atg's this early in the game just to counter a t70 then your opponent already has won the mp game.

I still don't understand why nobody goes Fuersturm on OKW to get both.

Fuersturm is actually very popular in 3vs3 or 4vs4 not because it can get both but because the leig is almost essential vs UKF.

With the current changes to medic truck cost the opel has become less attractive although still a good unit. The commander could have been better designed if instead incendiary munition had a mortar that could fire those. The one could really skip T1 without missing much.

We do though. The problem is that mech builds take longer to get than BG, esp if fuel is contested and you're going to have a bad time without an MG. Smoking MP40 volks can be nasty in ultra urban but they are no replacement for a dedicated smoke/light arty piece.

The Opel Blitz/Mech combo is very viable on very large maps, but these are usually maps which already favour Axis and/or have high/secure fuel income. Like Steppes and General Axis.

But enough off-topic for me.

I've tried it for few times. My conclusion is (at least in 1v1) Luch is not worth sacrificing the medium timing & opportunity cost of other commander.

Puma with 2 raket used to be the solution to the delay of the medium timing. But now it's a bit harder to use Puma with reduced sight (which is the right balance.)

walking stuka is not needed early~mid game in 1v1. So to me, it feels like to much of a investment for the Luchs. (the cost of mech truck & healing callin truck)

I do find the strategy interesting tho. Would love to see others try.

T70 pre nerf was better at AI than T34-76. Now it more blance.

Wrong. Lower than 4v4, Stuart can catch axis unaware because of its timing since most USF players go for captain. Then it can do game-ending damage.

An M20 does significantly more AI damage than the Stuart could hope to achieve and costs 50 less fuel. Better yet you can get 2 of them and if you have good micro can annoy/bleed the enemy more than pre-nerf T-70 while still costing less fuel than the Stuart.

Stuart is an over priced tickle machine that does 0 damage to infantry unless they happen to be in red cover. Its AT performance also sucks with the only benefit is that it is fairly "tanky" for a light vehicle.

Stuart has the lowest Vision out of all Light Vehicles in the game so it makes for a trash scout vehicle as well. It does get better vision with Vet but it is kind of hard to gain veterancy on a vehicle that does 0 damage. Regardless why does the Stuart need Veterancy to get the same vision as a Kubelwagon at Vet 0?

Why does the luch need veterancy to less vision than a M3A3 at vet 0?

How does that question relate to the topic?

And unlike the stuart the luch excels in anti inf at least when compared directly. Its also a more usefull scout unit then the stuart.
The stuarts damage output in general is just quite bad for its cost and timing. It needs to much input to get value out of it.

Kurobane asked a question and I replied with a similar question.

Now you have asked and I had to reply.

Stuart get first sight bonus at vet1 luch at vet 3.
Do you really want to argue that is easier to get luch vet 3 than Stuart Vet 1?

And the m20 is a more useful scout then both of them. It's in the same tier as Stuart, USF doesn't need the stuart to scout

Personally I think the stuart could use a rework but its a little late for that now. And it certainly doesn't need more vision
