used to spam Airborne a lot when it was OP and Airborne Guards never felt strong, while OG Guards feel like doing same amount of damage to infantry at long range, despite having 1 less DP lmg.
Guard Rifles also cheaper to upgrade, versatile and and have one of the best abilities in the game (vehicle button).
AirGuards have a weird expensive plane strafe that nobody uses. I guess Airguards are versitile as a unit, but 3xDP version is kind of meh, in my opinion. Yes, they look extremely cool now, but that's about it
What do you think?

Arent airborn guards a bit more tanky then regular guards? For me it felt like, they arent dropping models as bad as guard rifles out of cover.

Guard Rifle Infantry is superior. 2x PTSR with 2x DP is more than enough. The vehicle button is indispensable, especially vs diving tanks. Not to say that Airborne are bad, they are most certainly good elite unit, it's just that GRI are better.

they seem same to me. Serelia's data is a bit convoluted, but if you just look at veterancy OG Guards should be more tanky, if they both have the same base RA

Regular guards over airborne guards.

Though terror tactics is my favorite commander atm (2v2 & 4v4).

Regular Guards are more versatile but I like the Airborne LMG better due to there passive healing and dedicated long range damage which soviets lack. Reg guards do decent but I don't feel like they strike fear in CQC units.

Edit: I believe all guards can fire LMG on the move.

I would say that rifle guards are better than airborne ones, in terms of the LMG department.

However the SMG upgrade gave them an upgrade that gave them amazing damage at close range, which i loved using. Then they decided to give them "more variety" (as stated in the patch notes) and REMOVED the ability, really fucking stupid. Now you're a bootleg fallshirmjager with the ambush gimmick, really fucking smart...

ABG have superior DPS on the move since they can fire all their weapons instead of 1/3.

In a static fight I would rather have the GR since they can destroy enemy cover.

Ahh... Guards, They can fight Grens, PGren, Stormies, Volks, Fusies and they fight any LV that comes their way they can also snare Tanks or vehicles without the need for damage or vet. They are far more versatile that AB guards + The commanders they come in are also more versatile. So I pick them.

At 360mp with a muni upgrade I should bloody hope they can fight mainline infantry.

Although I find Pzfuss with G43 beat them handily.

It's certainly not at long range, nor likely at mid-range. This is even without considering Firing Positions.

Firing Positions? That's a USF thing. Other factions can't man them.
