Hi.

I think we can all agree that this ability hasn't been exactly community favourite or has it been peak of design, but it had few uses and it was decent as a meme ability.

Some time ago this ability was nerfed to be closer to the rapid conscription, reducing active time to 60 seconds and requiring 5 models lost as opposed to 4.

Time decrease was not inherently bad. It required more specific activation time that you could get osttruppen back, instead of playing around 2 minutes and getting unit for pioneer getting demo'd somewhere.

But the required addition of models eliminated even the very limited use of the ability, as you have not only less time to make it work, but you need to lose even more models, which depending of your army composition, might not be achieved, as you can end up getting only 1 or no osttruppen back at all.

Changing models required back to 4 could remedy this and allow this niche ability to be somewhat functional again.

Imo these abilities simply need a redesign.

Change could include:
Becoming a passive ability giving back 1-2 MP for every model lost

A timed ability returning squads that can merge but not reinforce

A timed ability allowing units to reinforce on the field

Yes, this and the Soviet counter part abilities pop up every now and then for discussion.

In my opinion those abilities should just lower reinforcement costs. mun cost and duration should then be adjusted accordingly.

This would keep unit preservation as a core mechanic, not clutter your build with infantry that you might not need and still allow an exchange from mun to MP. Also you could pop it when you need it and not while you are already busy not taking too much damage if you get overrun.

Not sure if it will see some love. However given that these abilities are in less frequently used commanders, it might give those a nice buff and maybe put one or the other back into some niche meta.

I like this idea a lot.

It sounds like it could be very powerful but the intent of this ability is to have more models available.

An even simpler version would be to:

- Exchange muni for MP
or
- Refund MP when models are lost while ability is active

I would have rather removed them completly insted of remaking and replace them with something else. There are not of of commanders with them, and adding something better would possible make them more usefull in general.

Lightning war - Breackthrought
Festung Support - puma\osttrupen reserves

Soviet Reserve army - For mother russia
Conscript Support - commisar

For Ost both lightning war and festung, are neat. They are decent, even with one wasted ability.

Soviet commanders with it are kinda meh, especially consript support which is pretty much copy of Advanced warfare with a difference being t34\85 instead of KV, different arty and radio intersaption instead of rapid coscription.
