The T-34/85 has been buffed with a penetration increase from 110 to 120 along with a price cut. It, however, received a significant anti-infantry nerf.

Having used it, I find that it is significantly weaker against soft targets now and behaves much like a Panzer IV with weaker frontal armor and no 'turret top gunner'. But the bonus is now it can pen Panthers from the side.

Any changes in your strats?

Only two commanders have it. Still weak armor.
In CoH1 US have strong AT infantry. Soviets not.
How you can play tank battles with 130 fuel panthers in 3v3 and 4v4?

I use T34-85 in synergy with mark vehicle. But nazi use nascar nitro and flight away.

The saving grace is that blitz doesn't work with a damaged engine anymore and the smoke cost is doubled. Finally, my AT nades mean something. T34/76 doesn't seem to have nerfed anti infantry capability in the 5 matches I've played since the patch. It still knocks out infantry regularly.

I agree, the T-34/85 is still not viable, given all the opportunity costs (dual call-in, small price cut) without marked target or a tactical ram. The P4/stug III still have the 160 frontal armor and flank shots are a must.

RAM is very risk. Crew shock and you lose your tank in next 5 sec.

Biggest issue with the 34/85 is that it doesn't come in a doctrine that has ppsh.

They can take on Panzer IVs now. I had one fight between 2 T-34/85s and 2 Panzer IVs (one vet1) today. I had to retreat both Panzer IVs, as the first P4 went down to 10% health pretty quickly. The other Panzer IV could escape with about half health. One T-34/85 was left with full health, the other one with about 10% health. My 2nd Panzer IV arrived 3 seconds later at this combat though, so that both T-34/85 could focus on the first P4 and get out 1 shot more.

I think they are fine now. The infantry shooting capabilities before were too much. Now it´s decent anti tank. More AT power isn´t needed for the vehicle. People shouldn´t expect to get a Panther counter with this unit. After all the Panther is/ should be the hard counter to tanks.

The other buff is the ROF increase, so the T-34/85 now shoots as fast as the Panzer IV.

I'm looking forward to trying T1 then T2 using armoured assault now, ill have a go tomorrow.

3 cons> flamer M3> penal> ZiS3> maxim> sniper/maxim/mortar (whatever's needed).

Then T34/85's, followed by an IS-2.

Top with Sturmovik strafe.

4 CPs comes quite quick with large inf force contesting whole map.

No, they are actually buffed vs infantry due to the huge ROF increase. The scatter nerf is quite small.

You guys are right about the T-34/85's AI. It is still strong. I played it again today.

-----------------

I use guards motor for the T-34/85. The Marked target and the guards button are too essential. Literally, marked target will swing the tank slugfest to your side due to the big accuracy and damage (+50%) bonuses.. I see armored assault as more of an IS-2 doctrine w/ self repair and IL-2 strafe.

Well, that's good news.

Vetted panthers were indestructible before.

T34-85 felt a little weak to me in my last game, guess it was because vetted p2w Panzers?

I had a game with the 85's vs some panthers, they did well and gave the panthers something to think about, often forcing them to retreat and repair. The panthers are still very durable obviously, but at least the 85's can penetrate and actually do some damage.

Its kinda like the T34 - P4 match up now, just slightly more panther favorable.

Had an IS-2 taken out soley by Stuka strafe as well, because I forgot it had been buffed and just left it in place.

Ended up losing everything I had, but just scrapped a VP win.

He had enough fuel to vet his panzers? you have other problems then like giving your opponent way to much fuel.

For the cost, the T-34/85 is still under-powered. For being a 4 cp doctrinal tank call in, it's sad that it just competes with a PIV. It should be on par with the panther in my opinion.
