Order of units in british buildings
Usually, the order follows this rule: infantry/infantry support weapons/light vehicle/tanks and TD/doctrinal stuff. New units, added to brits, should be moved to follow this order:
HQ (T0)

Platoon HQ (T1)

This issue exist for other favtions as well, but they are not affected by the patch in that way.

British IS artillery upgrade
At the moment, smoke barrage holding position for attacking the ground button, it's not the optimal position. I suggest to take two botton right slots for artillery abilities, since they are not taken by any other abilities for IS.

British assault officer
There is unused shieldsymbol for british officer in the gamefiles, which fit perfectly to the new role of the unit. Credits to SneakEye for founding it.

Command HQ glider
There is unused icon for glider without officer symbol in the gamefiles. Can be used for adjusting the current call-in icon.

Assault IS Thompson upgrade
Since this upgrade gives only Thompsons, i think it should be replaced on icon from USF units.

Airborn Guards
Field construction menu should be moved to the middle left position, like on photo (other units with only field constructions menu have it on the same place):

Falls
Warcrime grenade need to be moved to botton right slot, like other veterancy abilities.

Spotted issues
- Assault infantry section doesn't use proper shield symbol.
- Call-in icon for AIS using yellow string from assault grenadiers.
- Officer inspiration ability using strings from USF "On Me!" ability. They have different duration and british ability doesn't force the retreat to the officer.
- Command Tiger call-in icon not appearing when you choose grand offence doctrine (by Clarity) (seems fixed in 1.1)

P.S. Since conscripts 7 man upgrade was touched in this patch, maybe finally fix the bugged sergant model and change it on capeless guard model?
https://www.coh2.org/topic/100258/sergant-model-is-bugged

I would like to ask for reporting any issues, connected with strings or visual issues and UI. Thank you so much in advance!

1. assIS upgrade gives both thompsons and stens I just realised my info is oudated. Good change.
2. Please, beware of letters assigned to each icon in the box. Per my info, position in the box is supposed to corelate to letter on the keyboard, so top left will always be Q, bottom right will always be V. As for now it seems that in T0 UC and medics are the other way around (R vs E) and in T1 instead of QWER in the top line we have QRWE.
3. I don't think there is any reason to change the pyrotechnics IS icon.

Thank you for your work <444>3

Thank you for feedback!

Yeah, yeah i was in the team, which created this icons for commanders patch, so i know about it :)

These images were edited via photoshop, i just mentioned the order of the units on the bar, and didn't say anything about hotkeys. I believe the button will be just like you said, or balance team will tag something to make it in the best way.

That's fine, this one is debatable. I suggest it, because there is an issue with lack of symbols for IS. In game we have 5 IS variants:
Default IS - has it's own symbol and it's fine.
Medic IS - has it's own symbol and it's fine.
Pyro IS - has it's own symbol and it's mostly fine. The issue, that symbol looks like they got officer in the squad.
Assault IS - has it's own symbol and it's fine.
Tank hunter IS - doesn't have it's own symbol and more and more separating from regualr IS.
Also, there is unused pack of symbols, especially mentioned one with binoculars.

I am open for ideas and variants. :)

Good changes, as usual. I especially like the symbol with binoculars, and used it in my UKF Redesign mod.

There's a symbol in the game files with a HEAT grenade above the chevron. I thought it had been used in the past, but I don't have any evidence for that. I'll post the file if needed.
The grenade is placed off to one side to make room for another upgrade symbol, but it could be moved to the center now that Tank Hunters can't get those.

Apparently, no such symbol exists... I must have misremembered. So I went ahead and made it myself. Not perfect, but this is the idea:

For me the OKW Tiger is completely missing in Grand Offensive in the Winter Preview.

Still not the best option imo. I wish there were someone, who are really good in history of british regiments and their emblems. By the way, there is an idea to give both doctrinal IS double chevron to highlight their doctrinal nature.

If you're going for historical accuracy, I really wouldn't proliferate the double chevron. It means Corporal. When put next to the Private chevron the rest of the units has, it implies the difference is rank, not role.

I can't cay anything about techical part (iow how to implement it). But if i got request, i can make a try and create assets for that.

Before, when double chevron appeared for the first time, i explained that in this manner:

British Assault Infantry Section
One of them most desired unit for UKF. I've created portarits based on in-game assets, to provide better separation with regular infantry section, just like Assault Grenadiers.

For shieldsymbol i used this photo and my own memories about IS with Tommy guns in one of vCoH mods. But if you have some examples of correct symbol for assault regiment - let me know!

It was also logical if bonuses were taken into account (better surviabily and equipment)

Suddenly, there is still no information about aethetic symbols for assault and tank hunter infantry sections in the British army. I will be happy to get some information to work with.

Now, there is one addition, which should be taken into account too - this symbol already in gamefiles. No doubt, this patch will have new assets, as usual it was. But, fixes and novations, based on gamefiles, have higher chance to be implemented to the live version.

I tried to get some information about IS symbols and emblems, as well as Kasarov tried too, but we didn't find anything satisfying, that's why we decided to work around this symbol with doublechevron. SneakEye is also using icon from vanilla IS with crossed grenades above chevron in his All-Units mod.

It will be cool to create new shieldsymbol with historicaly accurate symbol on it, but i need information. Then i can do something and suggest it to the balance team.

Really amazing work. Relic and the balance team should use it, and if they don't, that's to the game's loss.

They usually do, so it should be fine. You can check out this thread with results from previous patches: https://www.coh2.org/topic/93861/ui-feedback-about-new-commanders-patch

Thank you, it is always pleasant to hear! But i am not working alone, the huge impact is also coming from Kasarov and SneakEye. Without them, it would be impossible.

And, of course, it would be impossible without Andy (CoH CM) and balance team, since they agreed to implement new UI assets and pay attention to UI in general. ^_^

There isn't, really.

The regimental insignias in the British army are quite visually complicated: they look like heraldy, often with similar silhouettes only distinguished by the details. That'd make them very difficult to turn into simple unit icons. There are proficiency badges meant to indicate special training, but they're usually lettered.

If that's the approach you want, you could take the leaves from the proficiency badge and use it as a universal "Specialist Infantry Section" symbol in the same way you suggested using the Chevron.

However, purely visually, I think SneakEye's approach of making them up is best. Given Assault Sections and AT Sections aren't even the same unit any more, you could even change the icon entirely. Go with crossed Sten Guns and a crossed Boys AT Rifle and AT Grenade or something.

Seems interesting. Thanks for image!

But i am totally against weapons on the shieldsymbol, because it looks weird, like was long time ago

I hope all these suggestions get implemented. I have an issue with the UI that I think were introduced with the commander revamp patch/new commander patch, and that is that commander ability order is screwed up on a few commanders.

This is on the command bar in-game for Soviet Industry Tactics:

And these two are in the main menu commander preview:
