Remember when the SU-76 was actually useful? In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: AA High Score Thread22 Nov 2014, 08:31 AM
Here are a few tips I've learned for each commander. Able Company - Airborne: Upgrade the Paratroopers call in to call in two Paratrooper squads at once and max out the price reduction. I can't recall the exact numbers but I believe this makes each Paratrooper squad cost about as much as a Rear Echelon squad to call in. You never have to build rifles again. If the munitions call in is upgraded to call in two munitions crates and a fuel crate airborne can tech lightning fast and start churning out Sherman tanks as well. Don't bother upgrading the off maps unless you really want to sic a P47 on the KT at the end of the campaign. Airborne is amazing at the dynamic missions because of how fast it can get going. You can have 4-6 Para squads controlling the entire map before the AI has any chance to react. Baker Company - Mech Support: Upgraded Cavalry Riflemen in an M5 are lulz. Grab the upgrades for the Bar, the Infrared STG44, and if you feel like it the m1919. You really don't need to worry about the cost reduction because it only takes 1-2 of these squads rolling around to destroy all infantry forever. Upgrade the double Stuart call in to a double M10 call in and you are basically set. The Sherman upgrade call in calls in Sherman Howitzers so it is pretty redundant when Cav Rifles are erasing infantry already. The time on target arty is really devastating when you upgrade the shell count but does the job just fine without upgrades so it is a low priority to improve it. Mech Support is best at the scripted missions because it can take a while to get going in dynamic ones. Dog Company - Support: Assault Engies are kinda disappointing so I typically only give them the flamethrower upgrade and squad size improvement. Having one or two a mission isn't terrible. Dog's off map arty is some of the best. At least upgrade the penetration and number of shells on the AT bombardment because it will consistently remove armor for you. In general I only really used Dog in defense missions and to give the other companies a chance to recover. Assault Engies mean they can manage easier dynamic missions well but anything above two stars is best left for other companies. Fox Company - Rangers: Max out rangers. Win. It really is that simple. There is nothing in the game that can survive 4-6 upgraded ranger squads. If you want additional cheese upgrade the single howitzer round off map to a 155mm shell and laugh as infantry and tanks alike are vaporized. In: COH2 Gameplay |

Thread: USF Mortar Half Track21 Nov 2014, 06:17 AM
This came up a while back and I did the following stat comparison between the US and Wher Mortar HTs. The bottom line is that while both units cost the same the US Mortar halftrack is only about half as effective as the Wher version when auto firing and still not as good when barraging. The unit needs some love. In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: How much do you think the Ardennes Offensive is worth?21 Nov 2014, 05:48 AM
The main campaign took me about 8 hours to complete and the way the campaign is set up it encourages you to play it more than once to get all the unlocks. Realistically all the content is going to give you 16-24 hours of entertainment at a minimum. The missions and commanders were all fairly entertaining so it doesn't get too repetitive replaying the campaign either. I have to agree that $40 feels a bit overpriced at first but unless you only plan to play the campaign once it might actually be a reasonable amount. In: Lobby |
Thread: AA Review: It is a bit too easy 18 Nov 2014, 23:47 PM
The AI seems to heavily cheat at hard difficulty on some of the open VP missions. The one that involved picking up the air dropped supplies, for example, saw the AI produce 2 P4s, 3 vet 4 pumas, and at least another 3 AA Half tracks before I could produce a single Sherman when I controlled both of the fuel the entire game. Needless to say it threw all those tanks away however since the AI doesn't appear to realize when it's vehicles are being shot by an AT gun sometimes. In: COH2 Gameplay |

At first I was somewhat concerned about the change but after playing a number of games I have to say I like it. Like Akula said it makes units like the Brumbar and Pack Howie a whole lot more useful. In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: Relic, please adjust Vet gain on the Stuka zu Fuss.14 Nov 2014, 22:47 PM
I'm sure it's been posted before but here is the health of all the non doctrinal arty units: katyusha: 160 panzerwerfer: 160 stuka: 320 As you can see the stuka has double the health of the kat or pwerfer. In fact it has the same health (though not armor) as the T70 or stuart. It takes 4 shots from a stuart to kill a stuka and 8 from a T70. If you want to include the priest in that list then it also has 320 health and takes 3 shots from a puma to destroy. Regarding veterancy I'm fairly certain it is just a function of unit cost. Health has nothing to do with it. In: COH2 Balance |
