I know your not saying one trick pony nade platform Guards are anywhere near overpowered. DP LMG 9/10 times isnt putting out all of its damage because they are in pairs and like to do jumping jacks and reaim. LMG42 is sooooo damn much better its absurd...
If Pzgrenadiers get hit by a guards' nadr, then they lost the battle. Do not underestimate the guards AI. |
If i bother to play germans, nothing bothers me more than soviet snipers. In the game files, there is a stormtrooper/ jaegar light infantry squad that is 5 men, all with G43's (i think) and can be spawned from any ambient buildings. They have 2x decap, no cap, no at, and expensive spawn and reinforce costs. If i EVER encounter a soviet using his snipers and counters me bad, my counter would just be to spawn a squad of these right next to him and the g43's will wreck his snipers. Then a half track would come in and annihalate them, but it would be a fair counter to this cheap tactic of the soviets. Wouldnt this be a nice solution? |
Combined arms solves everything? (Except against a sov player who uses the ass of a tactic of snipers, and just makes counters to everything you field.) Ex. (Phases of counterattacks) Phase 1: Mg's and grenadiers < sov sniper. Phase 2: Pzgrenadier, mortar, upgraded 251 and 222 < Guards and allied conscript ppsh spam. Phase 3: Ostwind/panther, brummbar, pzgren spam with reinforce assistance < Uber Ppsh/shock and guard spam with dp's, T34/85's. Inevitable german defeat because the soviet became too difficult to counter at this point... because im pretty sure the soviet snipers coming in pairs is what stopped the german advance and paved the way for tanks. (Counter sniping became trivial with ppsh spam everywhere) |
"Soviet are indeed easy mode" LOL! yeah sure..
Yeah, whichever faction is easier is a massive opinion that someone can defend for days. I just say some tactics are easier in one faction and harder than the other. Soviets can deal with offensive losses and germans are more suitable to bunkering down and firing at range. Just my opinion in how i play the two factions. |
Lets not ruin this guy's thread... if you are suspecting the soviets getting early armor, get a pak and a panzergrenadier squad up. Upgrade to shrecks and move up the pak with the schrecks. Your pak will hit their tanks at range, and if they try to flank or circle it, it will lose to your schrecks. Also be mindful of infantry by having an mg/ai support in the area. Getting any form of tank on your side makes your life easier, so be ready to hard counter the soviets. Eventually you out-tech the soviets if you last long enough. |
KV-2 is nowhere close to op. It is hard to keep them alive and it is not that hard to kill them. Once it sets down, it is an immobile target that can easily get killed by anything offmap. If it is on the move, it has a super slow reload and practically anything can outrun its turret traverse. Ill handle the Tigers, Elefants and panthers if i can keep my IS-2. ISU-152 is fairly volatile with no turret and can be outflanked, mainly outdone in a fight with an elefant. |
I call it a jack of all trades for a hefty price. It is nothing more. |
The main factor i see here is infantry clumping and ai targeting. With my IS-2, i always aim at the most clumped squads, because most likely ill one shot them. Sometimes my IS-2 aims at the odd guy sticking out and he only dies. Same for brummbar. Brummbar usually only kills 1-2 models because its targetting sucks and it aims at the soviets at the sides, and they often spread out in a line so they dont often clump. To solve this issue i tell it where to aim and then i see better results. |

I did mention obstacles overall. There are some obstacles that snipers can shoot through if they see the other side. Scouts provide the sniper LoS, and i usually try to hide my infantry behind a building, because i would have assumed it would block his shot. Somehow he would always get a shot through. Some objects block LoS and are solid objects that cannot be passed over, and in some cases, the sniper can shoot in odd spots and hit infantry in wierd places. Trajectory works really strangely in this game. I would observe that a field gun firing at a tank at the top of a hill would sometimes shoot through the ground. Projectiles pass through objects if their target is past that object. |
It is all about the killzones. If you can defend a position well enough, it can kill any unit. Two IS-2's, a field gun, some shocks and CE for repairs can go a long way in defending an unflankable position. The only possible way to kill an elefant is to flank it and destroy its engines, and then its toast. I charged two IS-2's at an elefant, incinedary bombed the surrounding paks and one lucky IS-2 shot stunned the elefant. Instant rape pursued as it was overtaken. Do not underestimate the power of the Soviets, sometimes. Other times, the soviets are toast. |
