Now for those guys who don't want mirrors what fairer solutions can you come up with than what we currently have. How about letting the VP leader choose the map or faction, and then the other player chooses the other item. E.g. the leader chooses Ango (from a pool of allowed maps), then the other player chooses Wehr, so the leader has to play as Allies. Or the leader chooses USA, and the other player chooses Semois and PE. In: Lobby

But you would have the exact same issue even with mirror matches if the first two games resulted in a draw. If game 3 is a mirror match it won't be fair unless the map is totally symmetrical. Totally symmetrical maps won't be balanced for Russia vs. Ostheer games and likely wouldn't be much fun either. In: Lobby

Mirror matches aren't going to suddenly make the game 100% balanced, I'm certainly not claiming that, but they will completely eliminate utter one-faction dominance on maps where a single faction is absolutely more suited to that particular map. Most of the "bad" maps in CoH are considered bad for that very reason: they absolutley favour one faction over another, thus making them unplayable in tournaments, which leads to Ango/Langres/Semois every single time. Exactly, it's a map balance issue. To find the best player all you really need is balanced factions and balanced maps. There is no intrinsic need for mirror matches to find the best player. In: Lobby
