It was supposed to be a bonus tier, Wehrmacht was perfectly capable of surviving on Panzer IV's. This isn't the case as much anymore, the gap between Panzer IV and Sherman is smaller; most importantly the British have their non-doctrineal Comet, which shits all over the Panzer IV and needs a Panther to stay in the game. |
How could you miss pack howi's vet 2. Because nothings better then only receiving stat buffs for your crappy, 3 round, innacurate barrage, right. At least now it gets extra pen. So much better then normal stat buffs .
Pack Howi Vet sucks compared to LeIG Vet, shitty 3 round "barrage" with a cooldown while the LeIG gets a 8 round barrage with no cooldown. |
My skin mod is only for Ostheer, because it would be redundant on OKW as it's too similar to one of theirs. It might be quicker to just build a new mod from scratch than to add every Ostheer unit back in, but I'll have to watch the video and see. Not sure what you mean by "not that much more work", unless I'm doing it wrong. I've been editing each texture individually, but that sentences makes me wonder if I'm doing it the hard way and there's an "apply to all" function?
I'm not an expert by any means, my only other experience with texture editing is on Source, where the bump map and texture (which has the alpha baked in) are separate files (.vtf) and are tied together by the .vmt, which also includes settings like phong. I haven't seen anything related to Alphas, and I'm not familiar with gloss maps nor do I recall seeing any layers labeled as such. I'll have to check out that tutorial and see if it explains any of that.

Should be removed on units with high acceleration, say above 2.5, which I think would only effect the M10, Valentine (does it even crush?), and Cromwell. |
They where also used as canon fodder and not as semi elite infantries. They where even used to walk over minefields. Don't ask me about the minefields but the officers that sent them...
This is a largely a myth. Soviet Commanders would order attacks over minefields if casualty projections from the mine fields were less than attacking the fortifications head on. As a Soviet Officer, a casualty was a casualty, whether it be by mine, mortar, or bullet. It's probable that Penal Troops took part in attacks like these, it wasn't necessarily exclusive to them, ordinary Infantry did the same. |
I think its no balance problem because you have a lot more than a Panzer IV when a Comet shows up and flanking with a Comet is always at more risk than drive frontally in with a panther and back out when you took a few hits.
Why do you assume the player will have a Panther by the time the Comet arrives? The first Panther costs more than the first Comet. T4 is basically a bonus tier only accessed when things are going well or you're in a team game, while Hammer / Anvil is an expected tech for every game. |
Obers aren´t supposed to be your standard infantry. The lack of snares or AT weaponry and relatively high cost makes them highly specialized AI infantry. You shouldn´t have more than two squads of them on the field anyway.
Exactly, Hector was saying you Panzerfusiliers are popular because Volks cannot fight late-game Infantry and Obers are not a solution because they're scarce. |
Are they? I build the Schweres HQ almost every game. And floating 400mp is pretty common as OKW. So if I wanted I could build Obersoldaten in almost every game I play (2v2 player mostly).
Try to use Obers as standard Infantry, you won't be floating for much longer. |
Agreed since CoH1, North Base needs moved to the top corner of the map, where there's already a large clearing anyway. Then territory points need adjusted to accommodate this change. |
