In terms of Sturmpioneers, if we give them MP40s and lower their cost, it would help OKW less reliance on Sturm for too many duties (CQC, repair, flank, etc.), but that may make OKW early game weaker, don't know would it get too weak, but it sure get weaker.
Well you could give them very strong MP 40's to keep their effectiveness at close range, you would just be nerfing their long range, and nobody uses them for that. So as I said, it seems pointless, unless the sole purpose of the change is because there are too many StG models in the game. At least it's not Panzer Elite, where every soldier had an StG or a Panzerschreck due to a failed faction design. |
See, on one hand I feel that there are way too many StGs in this game and that panzergrens with rifles and a choice between schrecks or stgs would be better for the game.
Panzergrenadiers using Kar 98's would be too similar to Grenadiers, and MP 40's would be too similar to Assault Grenadiers. Volksgrenadiers on the other hand made heavy use of StG's and MP 40's. I suppose you could replace Sturmpioneer StG's with MP 40's, but would there really be a point to that? |
KV1 is absolutely useless, its just a slower T34/76
This is actually the reason the Soviets quit producing them. The 100mm flat armor didn't perform any better than the T-34's thinner sloped armor. It just made the tank slower and more expensive with no real gain. They almost cancelled the Heavy Tank program over this, to focus on Medium Tanks. |

Imo the arc when in garrison seems a bit too wide.
Unless it was changed (accidentally?), all Machine Guns use the same arc when in a building. |
I feel like it'd be more user friendly to just have ammo instantly reset once a unit has been out of combat for X seconds. Manual reloading adds unnecessary micro to every infantry unit, and clutters up button space. Automatic reload opens the door to potential exploits, like baiting a machine gun, waiting for the reload to trigger, then sprinting up to grenade it. But if it's possible to make ammo automatically reset after a few seconds out of combat, it's be the perfect solution. |
That's a frustrating mechanic. Lower end suppression values on the MG34 and vickers and probably now the maxim make MGs too weak vs an actually spaced blob. Any MG can suppress 5 units stacked ontop of each other, but when you need to suppress 2-3 that are spaced very quickly only the MG42 and 50cal can probably do it anymore. I don't count the DSHK cause it's doctrinal but it most definatly can suppress.
There is an incremental accuracy modifier, but as far as I know it's not used on any weapon, not even machine guns. The problem with it is it only considers model count and now squad count, which might be why it's not used. Target tables might be able to fix that, but they might not, depending on what they allow you to do. |

It's not really smart to use that tank as damage sponge though, especially against OKW. It's free exp.
This could be rectified by lowering the health and making it take less damage. For example, lower the health by 50%, but lower all received damage by 50% as well, enemy units would receive 50% less veterancy. |
Does anyone know if there are any unused models or commanders in the game files that the community team could balance and unlock with Relics blessings maybe? Since they are likely not to make more.
There isn't much. Listed under Ostheer, there's an untextured (possibly not functional) Fallschirmjager from CoH1. There's also a partially complete model named "Tank Hunter" which is the CoH1 Assault Grenadier, which was updated, retextured and assigned to Ostheer's Panzergrenadiers. And there's a Panzerfusilier model, also untextured, and is just an earlier version of OKW's Panzerfusilier. Lastly there's an LMG Squad model which appears to just be an early version of the Osttruppen model, in the early stages of texturing.
On the Soviet side of things there's a bit more. Mostly of note, you can have Guards without a cape, and there's a fully textured "Conscript Sergeant" model. Those are probably from the campaign, although I know Spearhead mod got the capeless Guards to work for their Strelki unit. |
