Well, it's no brainer for Grens to always go LMG whenever possible. Exception being that the LMG does drop at a rare rate after death. In the end, the PPSH is doctrinal, just like the G43 (neither are droppable). Though it might be awesome if any weapon beyond the standard rifle had a small chance or dropping.
In the grand scheme of things, sure. But what I mean is, when you open with Grenadiers, you have to made decisions. Am I going to go rifle-grenade heavy, or should I wait for an LMG? What about after? Or should I save up for a Flame Half-Track? Later on you have to consider, should I use a Rifle-Grenade now? Spare for a Mine Field? Save for a Strafing Run?
As Soviets I don't find myself asking these questions, I mindlessly buy PPSh's on all squads and throw molotovs liberally, plant mines when I remember to, and I still sit on piles of munitions. It's part of the game design, Ostheer is inherently munitions heavy, and generally pays more for less. But I don't think it should be that way. |
Stars are no good indicator of skill. I'm 3 star, my friend is 5 star, but we're by no means high level players. |
Exactly, there's no reason not to buy PPSh, it's a no brainer. Your squad will always have 3 (a PPSh soldier dies, it gets passed on to a Mosin user), and they can never be dropped. In fact, they completely invalidate Assault Grenadiers, and force all Grenadiers to have LMG 42's or kite with G43's. |
Yeah, when I use it I feel the same way. The Soviet Sniper is an issue in itself, alone the DPS is horribly slow but in pairs they're very difficult to dislodge and pretty much force-retreat any squad they click on. |
The PPSh is okay, but it needs to be more expensive, at least 45m. Possibly 60 though, after all Ostheer needs to pay 60 for their upgrades. |
And increasing soviet sniper ROF
And then Panzergrenadiers were worthless.
lowering kar98 accuracy, lowering armor to 1.1-1.2
Overnerf much? Just lower armour should do, fights would be equal, if a bit faster. (lowering accuracy would also be a stealth-nerf to Partisans)
increasing initial mp cost?
Because Conscripts cost more for having 6 men.
If that's the case let's also make conscripts and guards 8 men squads to compensate for the extra firepower of the grenadier.
You wouldn't need to compensate with larger Soviet squads if you reduce the armour, (they would take damage more often) which is exactly what I suggested.
I just thought it worked in CoH1 (Rifle vs Volk dynamic), it worked with AG's, I can't see why it wouldn't work with the underdog Grenadiers. Trade fire resistance for sustainability. |
The only real good is the 5 grenades (but a little weak or sometimes dont work fine) if the 5 guys are live...
Are you kidding? That's their weakest link. I don't spend 45 mun and temporarily drop my DPS to 0 to kill one guy and make the enemy squad dance.. Give me a Guard grenade- hell I'd take a Shock's Grenade! |
I was just looking at this unit - it's an "assault" gun in the "mechanized assault" doctrine, but there isn't anything assault about this thing - a cheap/relatively weak barrage ability would make it more assault-ish and give it a nice synergy with assault grens.
EDIT: Out of curiosity does anyone have the stats of the gun on this vs the command tanks gun?
StuG E is worse, slower rate of fire + smaller explosive radius. |
You admit it's worthless, yet you want it moved back?
The other day someone called an 'E against me, and my Conscripts just stood there and captured a point while it shot at them the entire time. Then I threw an AT 'nade at it and walked away. It's crap. |
The hull machine gun on the p4, ostwind, elefant, panther, tiger and tiger ace:
Damage increased from 2 to 4
Just tested this, and I can confirm. Average TTK from Tiger front MG 34 was about 16 seconds, now it's roughly half.
I only played a few games, however, it seems they might have tweaked how the StG44 shoots? more in a burst fashion than automatic fire?
Overall dps didn't seem to change, anyone else notice this?
It's a sound bug, is all. The StG 44 only makes a sound for the first shot of a burst, it seems. The rest of the bullets still come out and hit just fine, if you look closely you can see the rifle is still firing without making any noise. |
