its quite interesting really how relic designs tanks.
First they model smoke canisters on the t-34. Then give them to the PIV.
Then they give the tank with 300hp an ability that makes it faster than a 500hp tank.
Plus the KwK 40 L/43 having the same penetration as the F-34 Tank Gun, while the M1 Tank Gun is vastly superior to the KwK 40 L/48 (which is exactly the same as the L/43 for some reason).
Also the M36's M3 90mm gun doing 240 damage while the IS-2's behemoth D25-T 122mm does only 160, the same as an F-34 76mm. |
The superior version of P4 is P4 H.
The inferior version is P4 J.
The superior version is a mix, but overall resembles a G. The J is modeled after an H but called a J in-game.
Really, to make an H all they need is the G's model with schurzen stock and stats similar to the Easy Eight. |
I miss the 2013 Panzer IV. Funny how that works, then it was the best medium tank in the game, the T-34/85 only challenged it. Now it's more expensive and less effective than it ever was. Now you only see StuG / Tiger rushes. |
Yeah, it's neat looking, but when it comes down to it, it's cluttered and cramped. I'd rather a more open design with a bit more space to maneuver, larger entry ways too. |
Panzer IV Ausf. H, every medium tank (Sherman, T-34) has a super version of itself (Easy Eight, T-34/85) except the Panzer IV. As a Panzer IV fan, that saddens me. |
Yeah, definitely is the kind of thing the map maker should have thought about. Weapons racks in the back of the base are annoying as hell.
It's not the map maker, it's the way the game is coded. The map maker cannot change the orientation of the starting building. |
If anything I'd say it's that Axis Tanks are underperforming, for cost, compared to some allied counterparts. Rather than nerf Allies, I'd call for a slight buff to Axis armour, or a cost reduction to match.
Sherman to Panzer IV, for 10 manpower and 15 fuel, you get a 20 armour advantage, and marginally better range performance. You lose out on HE shells and smoke. For 30 manpower and 10 fuel more, you get a 35 armour and 55 penetration advantage, the mobility disadvantage is negligible. If I could wait 30 seconds and come up with a Panzer IV Ausf. H (Easy Eight stats) instead of a Ausf G (Current PIV), I'd never use the G again. |
ISU was good some time ago. Now it gets easily countered by a non doctrinal Unit...
Non-doctrinal counters should be the norm. You shouldn't lose a 30 minute game because the you lost the rock-paper-scissors with your commander choice. Every Commander should be defeatable with standard units. |
What Katti said, that gives you 208 armour (from 160), which is more than a Panzer IV (180) but less than a Vet 2 Panzer IV (234). That makes it better than stock Medium Tanks (Panzer IV, T-34/76, M4A3), but still worse than call-ins (T-34/85, Easy Eight), with the exception of the Soviet M4C to which it is on even ground. |
ISU-152 is probably the shittiest superheavy tank in the game and gets solo'd by a Panther.
An expensive dedicated tank destroyer can solo a heavy assault gun, and that's a problem to you? |
