If you look at the player numbers on Steam Charts, DOW2 never got above 1200 players while COH2 never got below 3500. Even if you count Retribution separately (and I very much doubt you should) the player numbers for Retribution never got above 1200; Chaos Rising never got above 300. So there is mathematically no way that DOW2 beat COH2; the variance was higher with Atilla but they peaked at around 10k players so I assume it was the "true" winner.
Obviously this was nothing more than a publicity stunt for DOW3. Which is fine but why not just advertise that instead of this obviously bullpudding "competition"? |
Orrrrrr just get rid of maps with ice from automatch, like they did with deep snow and blizzards? |
OK, sorry about that. As I said, happy to be corrected. |
This issue is in our database and being looked at.
Thanks
You know, people in this community tend to complain about Relic a lot, and I have basically ignored it until now.
But this is ridiculous. If I'm understanding you correctly--and please tell me if I'm not--this was already a known issue. So what exactly was the strategy here? Stick your fingers in your ears, go "la la la" and hope nobody ever notices that veterancy is fundamentally broken?
It's pudding like this that gives Relic a bad name with the playerbase. (And I know this isn't your fault specifically, Kyle, just saying).

If there is an issue with the Pershing it is armor, not damage. |
10k USD, what is that in Pounds?
Approximately 3 pounds 50 pence |
Ok this shit really needs to stop. volks have decent AI but no upgrades and their vet is TERRIBLE.
vet 3 scripts rifles and is will mop the floor with them. also for the love of god put the zooks on the RE's
Slow down! I agree, which is why I specified the nondoctrinal MG and the AI-focused weapon upgrade. As lanciano wrote, spamming is just the current meta, and it's arguably more frustrating to deal with Allied infantry spam as OKW, precisely for this reason. The only upside to volks spam is that they can't be bullied around by vehicles, and from fairly early on (~4 minute mark). But otherwise Allied spam is just as cancerous as volks spam. I see the root of that problem in a lack of reliable suppression platforms for OKW, especially after they changed the Kubel (for the better I think). A decent nondoctrinal MG would give OKW a way to deal with blobs, an AI weapon upgrade for volks would keep them at least somewhat competitive as the game goes on, and a tank buster squad would preserve Axis' handheld AT superiority, which like it or not is clearly a cornerstone of the overall game design. |
Yeah, the real problem with schreks on volks is that there isn't really an AI vs. AT tradeoff; they're still pretty good against infantry, especially with vet, but they are also deadly against vehicles.
The solution should be 3 parts: a nondoctrinal MG, an AI upgrade for volks (perhaps MP44 or something similar to tradeoff long range for short range DPS), and "tank buster stormtroopers" or something like that. |
1) Zooks are actually pretty good at least since the December patch (there was a stretch where I didn't play much so I can't say exactly when they started being good). But yes I have lost or nearly lost several PIVs to zooks, thinking they were the same peashooters as before. Not the case. Seriously if you haven't played with zooks in a while, try them. You will be pleasantly surprised.
2) I agree with the general thrust of the complaints about volks. However, allied infantry spam is *AT LEAST* as frustrating, the only reason it isn't a complete disaster is because yes, there is more of a tradeoff between AI and AT. Luchs is decent but won't really shut down blobs as long as there is any AT in the vicinity (or vehicle snares). Stuka zu Fuss is literally hit-and-miss, doesn't suppress, takes a while to cool down, etc. AAHT actually works fairly well, but it costs a decent amount of fuel, is fragile, and requires T1.
3) So what I would say is volks can and should lose schrecks, but *ONLY* if OKW gets a decent nondoctrinal MG to deal with Allied infantry blobs, especially in the early game. Maybe the MG34 is fine, just buff its suppression a bit and raise its cost to, say, 240.
4) I support the creation of a dedicated "Tank Buster" type squad to carry schrecks, but am open to other ideas. |
T34/76 has been garbage since release. Anyone remember when you would spam them ***just to ram them***?
I agree with making 85s nondoctrinal, though I'm not sure I want 76s available as a call in, especially as cheap as 450/150; that could easily be spamme.
