I agree, Soviet T4 is as useless as Ostheer T4.
Relic should revise the usefulness and cost of this tier en both factions, as T3 dominates absolutely in competitive play.
Some interesting ideas proposed were replacing T70 with S76, increasing SU85 frontal armor and fix pathing, or making T4 building cheaper if you have already T3... |
I was just curious as to the reason behind the imbalances in terms of what factions players are playing. I have noticed this over the last few months but only now decided to find out why. It seems Axis seem heavily stacked in terms of players, if I search for 1v1/2v2 currently both are around 88% Axis and last night for the majority of the night I was seeing 96% Axis and this seems like a general trend and I was just curious as to why?
Also could these percents at all affect the calls for nerfs/buffs? As far as balance goes I honestly have no say, I don't know the game well enough to really know but I do notice that the majority of nerf calls do seem against the allies, is this affected by the fact everyone plays Axis? And say the nerf calls are just and allies do get nerfed would this potentially lead to even less ally players?
But yeah just really curious as to why everyone seems to play Axis

When you build an MG42 or Maxim, with good gameplay you could keep the unit alive the entire game and it will be useful. You also have the option to retreat preserving the unit. The Kubel Manpower cost is close to the other MG's in the game yet is only useful for the first give minutes. Something needs to be done to fix it at the very least remove the large radius turns and give it proper pathfinding.
Well, consider Kubel the same as soviet M3. A shock unit that can do really good in the early game with good micro but which eventually will be destroyed. |
I play Soviets a lot, and I don't think it's a shame. I like the asymmetric play styles versus the different factions and troops. Screening, capping, and overwhelming, they do their jobs effectively versus the OKW.
The issue is that cons doesn't scale in the game, and all the manpower you invest in them is manpower lost for the lategame, meanwhile volks scale very well and they are really useful all the game.
Cons are in the same tier than M3 or Kubel. They're good units but they doesn't make too far to the midgame, so sometimes it doesn't worth to make them if you want to tech fast or invest the mp elsewhere.
You can spam cons and hold the ground against OKW, but without snipers or maxims you will end overwhelmed whitout doubt and lose. |
Armour and Mobility should be inversely proportional in a Tank Destroyer.
If it lacks armour, it should have great mobility: Jackson
If it lacks mobility, it should have good armour: Jadgpanzer, Stug
Currently, SU85 doesn't have neither armour nor mobility. It only has a good shoot range which is the same role that normal ATguns occupy.
Blitzkrieg and smoke just worsens the situation for SU85, making it easy to flank and unable to pursue damaged enemy tanks.
Decreasing its cost is not a solution, because currently SU85 can't do better than a ZiS. It needs a big buff in mobility or armour.
And I join the petition to swap T70 and SU86. And even so, their cost should be revised as both units come too late to be effective. |
SU85 has a great disavantatge that german tanks doesn't have and that is tank's smoke.
When a enemy tank uses smoke, SU85 is rendered useless and you can only pray that clicking Attack Ground you get lucky and give the finishing blow.
At least T34/76 and 85 can rush into the smoke and finish the enemy tank.

Too RNG dependent. That isn't a blob denial weapon at all, it just bleeds manpower randomly and it is too fragile.

Heavy mortar and offmap arty are doctrinal. ZiS needs a spotter, and only heavy tanks can do that against Flack Truck.
Penals? seriously? What kind of player can let their truck get demolished by satchels at midgame? Not one above top 2000.
Only suggested nondoctrinal counters viable are mortars (taking a couple of years) and SU85/T34 spam which they will have a hard time dealing with the schreck blob, raketenwerfers/FlackTruck itself and the OKW tanks.
After years complaining about british trucks in CoH1, do OKW players forgot how boring is to deal with reinforcing trucks in the middle of the map? Do you not understand why people spam katyushas against that boring gameplay?
