WARNING!
This is choke point map.
It also breaks traditional game design and balance.
It exploits pathfinding, to make the match last as long as possible.
A good 4 players vs 4 expert ai can usually win after an hour.
I've only managed a single pvp game, 3v3, that wen't no where fast. Ended up a stalemate.

So ive been looking over the stock maps, and I cannot find what turns a map officially into a winter map with blizzards. I did the script file, mapname.scar, and copied and paste from a stock map, renaming to mymap.scar. From what i can tell, it initializes the blizzard mode, and loads preset atmosphere settings. So far, I'm just using stock presets, in game and in the *scar file, but it doesn't work, no blizzards, and engineers cannot build fires. I tried to just save my own presets, in the map folder, but I'm not sure how to reference to those specific files; in the *.scar file, the directory is pointed to an archive.
Is there some hidden gameplay object, that I need to place on the map, to initialize the blizzard, do I need to save my own presets as the same name as map, or something else that I'm just completely missing? |
Is there, Archive.exe, located in your "steamapps/common/companyofheroes2/" folder? I had to add it in manually, from the steam download directory, in order to do the extraction of the stock maps, as it wasn't there by default. I don't remember the actual path location of the download folder, but I clicked on my "programfiles(x86)/steam", and searched for archive.exe, found two copies, 1 in coh1, 1 in coh2, download/install folders. I copied the one for coh2, and moved it into the "steamapps/common/companyofheroes2/" folder. I don't know if this is necessary, I did it any. May or may not help. |
Hey guys!
I'm about to finish my first coh map thx to OnkelSam and his awesome tutorials but I have some problems, hope you can help
1)What tool do I need to open .options data to fix the alignment of the ingame minimap?
2)My map contains an area that is just accessible by infantry via 4 footbridges. But the AI sometimes tries driving vehicles over these bridges what is causing a roadblock. Can I fix this?
3)Nothing really fundamental but can I add effects like fire, smoke, fog, dust or some background sounds to my map to make it more alive?
Thank you!
1: Notepad
2: Maybe use the Impass editor, to paint impassable territory just barely big enough for infantry to squeeze through, but not vehicles. Im not too sure, without a screen of the map, and what your trying to do. You may need to provide an alternate route for the vehicles, if there isn't one. Choke points are tough to manage with AI. There MAY be a way to make an area non accessible to vehicles, I'm just not sure.
3:Atmosphere properties, in one of the drop down menu's at top, I believe under EDIT. You can "LOAD" many pre saved atmospheres that comes stock, or build your own. |
So, I've decided on using a preloaded atmosphere for the time being, and its working great now. The thing is, I applied the premade atmostphere last night, and it wasn't exactly working then either, so I wounder if there is some sort of bug, that requires restarting the world builder. Similar to the export bug. |
I was hesitant to use splats, as the deep snow is suppose to be able to be blown away by explosions, and a splat would not. I would also assume, that "additive" option in atmosphere properties, its what regenerates the damaged ice and snow? |
Also, if I remember correctly, the texture of the snow, and the depth of the snow is defined in atmosphere properties? I may have not had those defined while trying to put on a building, which might have been my point of failure. |
