Gearbox takes a step back in legal fight with former exec
May 23, 2019
https://www.polygon.com/2019/5/23/18636080/gearbox-callender-grievance-randy-pitchford
Gearbox Software’s legal fight with its former general counsel Wade Callender has taken a curious turn. The company recently filed a new petition against Callender, minus several claims from its previous petition. Additionally, Gearbox appears not to have followed through on a threat to file an official grievance against Callender.
*SNIP*
Update: Former Gearbox general counsel Wade Callender confirmed to Polygon that Gearbox has failed to file the grievance against him that the company promised back in January.
“Because a licensed attorney can inquire about his own good standing, I contacted the state bar directly,” Callender said in a statement to Polygon. “In response, the state bar confirmed it: No grievance was ever filed by those who were publicly threatening such nonsense back in January 2019.”
By god, they're going to bring all of their RTS franchises to console if Iron Harvest is succesful.
May God help us all and shield us from this plague called "consoles".
I'm not nitpicking and it's fine to be very critical.
From my POV it was either PC/mobile or PC/console expansion.
Ancestors Legacy + Iron Harvest is proof of concept, that console might work for a spin-off CoH game.
I doubt this will be a faithful sequel to CoH1/CoH2, so they have to market this differently (not CoH3).
It's worth noting, Atlus leadership who make console RPG's convinced Sega upper management to improve gaming quality. Atlus is owned by Sega Sammy Holdings same as Sega.
“As far as the Western market goes, we learned a lot from Atlus. If we can make a title with proper quality, I believe there’s a good chance for it to do well even in the West for players that like to play Japanese games.”
Atlus has been highly successful with Persona 5 on PlayStation.
Clark: Whether we can say it’s overperforming or performing to expectations, we’re really delighted with Persona 5. Everyone across the Sega organization is proud to be able to say that we were part of that, however big or small a part each individual played. Persona 5 is a flagship brand for Sega coming from Atlus now. It’s very strong. We appreciate that. We talked before about the connection with the community, identifying the uniqueness of the community. That’s embodied in the Atlus titles, particularly Persona.

Schreier: Yes, any elaboration you can make here? I ask because I pay a lot of attention to these financial calls that these companies have, and EA for example is very reliant on the loot box income that comes in from FIFA games. A lot of these companies are very reliant on this stuff.
Who wants to defend EA Fifa 19?
Yes, there is studio leaders in Relic + Vancouver who still defend these EA shenanigans.
Time for a wake up call? Remember, silence is also complicity!.
If EA/ESA lobbyist continues to defend Fifa 19 they will dig their hole even deeper.
Can Fifa 19 handle public scrutiny/transparency?
Fifa streaming community revolting against Fifa 19?:
At best, Fifa 19 is an online casino disguised as a game.
This game has PEGI 3 age ratings which is ridiculous as this is an adult game due to the gambling practices.
The AAA gaming industry is fundamentally broken with non-sustainable business models and EA have to take some responsibility for this mess.
Ideal scenario, the gaming industry should regulate itself. But with P2W culture dominating in China that is not going to happen.
If CoH3 are to happen, I sincerely hope Sega Europe/Relic move away from predatory business practices.

They sent all my personal info including my email address, my name, my purchase history and my purchase info and I just get sorry.
And after that they have the guts to ask if I was happy with there service.
I was going to say they aren't so bad as everyone is making them out to be because they only have data that I myself put in.
But this goes to far.
I am done with very not epic games.
Edit: I forgot that it also included my ip address
TurboToast3000 https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckepic/comments/brfexm/they_literately_sent_my_personal_info_to_a_random/
I got an email from epic yesterday. After that I went to reddit to let everyone know and after a few hours came a DM from someone who said they recived the email. WITH PROOF he showed that epic games sent him the email and he reported it because of that I was notified. So epic did oopsie kind sir reported it and at last I knew about it.
DoesltMatter
They sent my info to some guy similar to this and I lost my account. I tried to contact them to get it back and they said they couldn’t help. They’re the sole reason it was taken and said they wouldn’t do jack shit. I had put a decent amount of money into my account when I was into fortnite. I’m not so upset because I wasn’t planning on playing it again or using epic again but still just to have my account given to someone else when I had sunk at like $100 into was pretty scummy. 6535754733745 Hey there, I'm the person who received your personal data. I sent them a GDPR data request for my account and got yours. I told them they'll have to report this to the supervisory authority.
I tried creating a post here a few hours ago, but couldn't due to this account being too new.
Not sure how I could prove this to anybody but the OP.
TurboToast3000
This guy is legit
TurboToast3000 confirmed he is from The Netherlands and this will be reported.
TurboToast3000
my email address was in the data
the address where I live is not in the data because I have never told epic that
payment info is in but nothing serious because I use IDEAL a payment service that does not reveal a lot of data to companies
After several delays, Kickstarter start next week.
Sega have set a deadline just before Microsoft E3 and/or Gamescom.
For some reason, Relic studio trademarks have been removed from early box version?:
CoH console announcement E3/Gamescom?
Along with AoE4 news, I think Relic/Sega will announce a new CoH game and Microsoft/Sega partnership for next-gen console games.
I hope they are careful how they market this. If announced in a vacuum there will be some CoH community backslash, just saying.
Personally, I won't fight this as long they don't market it as CoH3. Many PC fans, myself included expect a faithful sequel to CoH1/CoH2.
"There's some stuff that's been back burnered for years because we wanted to see how technology, the market, control and touch emerged. Hopefully we will be positioned to adapt to some of that."

'Company of Heroes': Relic Entertainment "open" to a console version - MAY 2012
General manager Alex Peters said if the studio can find a way to bring the series outside of PC it will "do it".
"RTSs (real-time strategy) have struggled to find their place on console. If we can figure out, and the timing's right, how to deliver a great experience - and I think it would be a different experience - we'll do it," he told Digital Spy.
"But, again, it has to be that we'll feel confident that we deliver that kind of experience people expect from Relic."
Game Director on an exciting unannounced strategy game, the kind that Relic Entertainment does best! Currently working with an excellent team to build a creative vision, game pillars and the feature set. Lots of engaging, fun work to be done and great people to do it with.
A second game director, Erik J. Caponi are partly involved (most likely). But Relic/Sega building a brand new development team/game since early 2018. This could be CoH3. https://www.linkedin.com/in/ecaponi/
DoW Mobile Expansion & CoH3 Plans
I think Sega/Relic's plan was to make CoH3 after studio expansion with AoE4 (former CoH2 leads) and DoW3. Some fans have joked DoW4 could be a mobile game, that's fairly accurate.
From linkedin we know they recruited at least two mobile DoW leads/Executive Producer: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mikeswanson (2013-2014) https://www.linkedin.com/in/iamstephenmac/ (2015-2016) From THQ/Relic days we have Adrian Crook, cross platform leader of 'Relic labs' (2004-2008)
https://www.linkedin.com/in/adrian/
Shipped The Outfit, Relic’s first console title and THQ’s first and only Xbox 360 launch window title
Founded Relic Labs, a concept incubation group
According to linkedin, CoH was on the backburner from 2015-2017.
Due to the failure of DoW3, started to rebuild CoH team in 2017 with community surveys + free CoH giveaways (both 2017 and 2018).
2017 giveaways:
Some proof of MS In-house AoE4 Franchise Team. This is Microsoft Redmond, not Relic.

I'm super excited to reveal one of the projects I've been working on for the last couple of months- the legendary "Age of Empires 4"!!!- thank you Relic Entertainment for inviting me for this crazy ride.
The problem IMHO is the Wargame community (one of Eugen's game series). This community hate SD series because theres not a "Wargame sequel" done and they flamming SD game in social networks until the death.
SD - WW2
Wargame - modern warfare
Its kind ridiculous, but it's true.
Thx for explanation. Seems like a similar fan reaction to Valve Artifact announcement:
IMO, there is a real risk the same could happen to CoH as Sega/Relic try to expand the franchise.
Fans like what they like, trying to belittle them and change their minds is counterproductive.
One of the reasons why marketing, clear communications and knowing your audience/fans expectations is so important.
