Personally, I'm still trying to work out where the Con PPSh spam story came from... It seems to me it has originated after the patch was released, prior to that everyone was complaining about Shocks. It will drop because you will be matched against players with similar ELO you've beaten before due to imbalances and now when the odds are a bit different it won't be that easy. Someone on this forum even complained that he's unable to win against people he didn't have problems before this patch. As far as the second part of your question goes: I play both factions with Soviets being in favour and I can tell you and I am 100% sure with this that it was far easier to win as a Soviet last two patches before this one especially when you were good at executing some popular strats with Snipers, mass Conscripts or utilizing new commander. Experienced and done it myself for both sides of the equation. And I never complained about Shocks. I found them easy to beat and later in to the game I was guaranteed free vehicles roaming time. Thread: How the new Patch changed the flow and feel of the game.29 Mar 2014, 12:16 PM So I played some more games recently + watched some games of better players and frankly I don't notice problems mentioned in this topic. I mean, yes Pios can dish out some serious damage now, but they still die as easy as they were + as Relic said they scale badly late game. Grenadiers being too strong? Conscripts dying like flies? I don't know, for me a lot of the issues described are a result of the small arms changes. I think if you're struggling after new patch you are really struggling to adapt rather than something is unbalanced. Lets be honest last couple of months it was extremly easy to play as a Soviet. All you needed was a blob of Conscripts equipped with PPSHs roaming around the battlefield and destroying everything. I only started to be able to deal with it after implementing some heavy Sniper play and there was this issue with Soviet snipers as well. Now everything depends of how you approach the engagement and how you utilize cover. If you do it right Pios will die, so will Grenadiers and Panzer Grenadiers as well. You need to think more strategically in this game now. Its less casual player friendly now but not by much and I am pretty sure everyone will adapt after a while. Of course your rank as a Soviet will drop but it shouldn't be there in the first place do to the advantage you had over couple of last months. It is basically almost the same situation that happend when MG42 was overpowered at the beginning of CoH cycle. I really can't stress enough how more enjoyable this game just became. Thread: A couple of post-patch balance issues/suggests27 Mar 2014, 10:35 AM I don't think Maxim is any more vulnerable to the rifle nade than MG42 is to a molotov. That being said a slight rifle nade munition cost increase could be at hand to prevent early game spam. You will deny yourself some upgrades though so I don't know. Nothing stopping you from getting a ZiS gun to help you with these light vehicles. Problem with Pios is how you handle them not the weapon damage they deal. Keep them at distance and you should be fine. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: HOLY POTATOES !!! patch 3/2527 Mar 2014, 09:56 AM So I played some games with new patch and boy this game has changed. Especially infantry combat. If you were Conscript + PPSH spammer you will have hard times now as everything caught in the open gets shredded to pieces now. Luckily for me I got good behavioural practices from VCoH and my play was always cover orientated so I am in this sweet spot that I don't adapt that much but I've seen what it does to someone who don't have this kind of experience. I'll have to play some games as Soviet to see how they doing in reality myself so I won't give my opinion on the balance this time as it's a bit too early. In: COH2 Gameplay

Running over them like some people in this thread suggested is a horrible idea, I lost several Conscripts trying this. Sweeping or avoiding them is the only option until the first tank arrives. The build time needs to be longer so Pios can't lay them right next to a horde of conscripts ! If that's the case then indeed some tweak is needed. It sounds almost like exploit. In: COH2 Balance
