Thread: Brits first impressions (post here)1 Sep 2015, 11:34 AM As much as I grumbled about the Bren Gun Carrier back in CoHF and the scout car in CoH2 but the UC REALLY needs a buff, it has no role, to too expensive to be a sniper counter, too slow to harass and too low in armour to assist during early skirmishes. Thread: Thinking about getting into CoH2 again...15 Aug 2015, 22:17 PM After a few games I think my biggest problem now is getting a decent Anti-Infantry screen, out of the Doctrines I have tried Panzer Fusiliers tend to be the one getting the most kills but allied heavy troopers and flamers seems tough to deal with, I am SUPER tempted to use the AA half track but I seen its rarely used in replays, so did Relic nerf it too hard or is it underrated? Thread: Thinking about getting into CoH2 again...14 Aug 2015, 18:11 PM I've been lurking around here for around a year after taking a break, back then new WFA were cool but each had their own problems and when I last tired to last play OKW I mostly got punched in the dick the ScoutCar/sniper combo which made everything unfun. The recent set of patches have looked great but there are 3 things I would like to know about: 1) Which Commanders are any good for OKW? I tend to lean to commander that allow infiltration and map control than heavy tanks. 2) Is the M5 quad much of a hassle to deal with? I seen quite a few threads on the quad and I am wondering if its really OP or just 'too good' as it can be dealt with but it takes effort. 3) Are the traps that Obers plant any good and how does it work? There were 2 things that I liked about Opposing Fronts, the soundtrack for the British and Scorched Earth Doctrine which I used even before it was cool to break points, I loved trapping the shit out of points and building but how does the Ober trap work? Does it explode on a unit once it enters the capping area or in another way? Is it easy to dodge it and are there any tips on using them? If you ask, thanks in advance, always been a massive CoH fan but CoH2 did a get a bit stale for a me a while ago and now it looks much more appealing... In: OKW Strategies
Thread: Bayonets17 Jul 2014, 07:11 AM The Bayonet was still a useful tool as sometimes you would find yourself low on ammo and just because the statistics show that a low number of people were killed it does not mean it did not happen (after all most of the kills in CoH2 are due to small arms fire but in WW2 most kills were artillery), one of the more well known Bayonet charges on the Western Front was Purple Heart Lane were the 101st charged down a entrenched Fallschirmjagers (sorry for using wiki, its that it quick to link to): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Heart_Lane However should be added to the game? Hell no, unless the game the game is built from the ground up to support it and the the only time when CQC was common up was when units were storming buildings which CoH has never supported. I even remember a quite from relic about why you cant enter building to displace units "We did add such a change as we did not want a situation where the player loses control of his units", which is pretty funny thing to say in CoH... The Luftwaffe Ground Forces are able to build tank traps that come with wire at 2CP and unless the US get a a airborne squad close to the with a demo charge then there is very little the US can do about that wire/tank trap combo. On a open map its only annoying but on some like Semois you can block off sections of the map with ease if you drive away the US player for a while... In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Why so many Axis Lovers? 27 Jun 2014, 21:07 PM In the general rules of war you need to out number the the defensive side 1 to 3 and the Germans were masters of defence, so you cant really use those battles where the Germans were on the defence. The problem is that most people tend to be too focused on the tactics of WW2 than over all picture, you could look at it like: The Germans won almost every firefight They won most battles When it came to operations it was a mixed bag They lost on every front The suffered a crushing defeat at the end of the war In other words they had horrible capping skills! If we had a graphic option screen that offered OPTIONS rather than details list going from very low to ultra, being a PC player I like to customize trying to get them as high as I can on a solid 60FPS. CoH2 is already one of the more demanding games on PC (no really, other games can run at 60FPS better than CoH2) and being a PC only game does not really excuse limiting the player options... Thread: Sturm offizer and Panzerfusilier26 Jun 2014, 17:31 PM Also Assault Artillery is the shit if the match turns into a stalemate, it works a bit like Registered Artillery from vCoH 1 however it can only hit enemy points and the best thing about it is that even if you miss any unit the area is covered in smoke making any long ranged weapons worthless in that area. The rapid capture point is also great once you drive the other army from the map as you can capture points and then get you units back in the fight. Its a great Commander but Luft has those early MG34s... In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Do cancelled abilities still eat up munitions? 25 Jun 2014, 13:23 PM I'm really noticing this on Riflemen/paratrooper grenades, you click on somewhere to throw it and its seems like a age before they throw it, so you then start shooting at the target rather than throw the nade but it still costs 25mun and now the ability is now on a cool down even though no nade was thrown. This is a pain in the ass for the other factions but the US needs munitions for upgrades and every 25mun wasted is a large set back for the player... So am I being mad or is still in the game? Thread: Broken balance - Soviets vs OKW24 Jun 2014, 09:12 AM Yeah, first game of WFA I noted my opponents bulletin load out and I asked him: post image online "And M3 spam, right?" "ye" Thankfully I was able to win due to his horrible micro I was able to take out 2 T34 with a single Jagdpanzer 4 but even so I was hard pressed to counter the early M3. You maybe screaming to get the Püppchen however the Püppchen way too hard a counter for the early game. Sure if you are lucky and the Soviet player happens to wander into that arc and you then kill it than that is good but what else can you do use that unit for? All of the Ostheer counters to the to the M3 are soft, they can also counter other types of Soviet units (i.e. Penals or support weapons) whilst the Püppchen is only good for one thing weaking yourself to infantry... So the Püppchen needs a massive buff (maybe a disable of some sorts) or the M3 needs to be hit hard with the nerf bat as its not very fun if you get a Soviet player... In: COH2 Balance
