As someone who has tried both lots of inf and lots of armour, I've found that of the two things needed it's DPS for weapons upgrading (serious, firefights go on for aaages) and not making AT even more effective.
If you see an AT gun it can take your *incoming exaggeration* tank out in 2 seconds whilst your Grens need about 5 minutes to kill the team and disable it.
About the only part of the game that makes realism sense at the moment is that a AT gun can rip a tank to shreds and a sniper can kill someone. Otherwise everything feels weak. I'm not sure how many bullets a soldier can take from a MG, but I'm positive it's not as many as they currently do.
It's like the A-Team out there. Vehicles blow up if you cough on them, and two squads can be six inches apart (in real terms) and fight for hours. |
In case other people want/need to do this, here is how I did it successfully :
1) My Steam directory with the game is on a separate HD.
2) End COH2, let Steam Cloud sync.
3) Copy entire My Docs/My Games/COH2 folder somewhere safe.
4) Reformat. Reinstall. Etc.
5) Load Steam, sign in. Wait a few seconds for it to just put things where they should be.
6) Quit Steam.
7) Paste COH2 folder back into mydocs/mygames
8) Load COH2. It does a "first install" thing, but all the medals and bulletins are exactly as before.
Tada.
Hope it helps. |
If the forums have a search I can't find it, so apologies in advance if this is a duplicate query.
Time for a fresh install of Win7. My Steam directory is on an external drive. Steam Cloud (such as it is) is running fine. Do I just need to copy out the My Docs/Games/COH2 directory and plug it back in when I'm done to keep everything?
I would hate to have to grab all the bulletins and medals again and remember in the early days someone mentioning they'd lost theirs after a reformat/backup.
Any advice or an official nod would be great. |
Ah thank you.
It's good to know that we got a ton of RND commanders for free, but actual new ones cost cashmoney.
Live and learn. |
Sorry I must be stupid, but what does that mean? We don't get them at all? We have to buy them? I can't find them in the Steam DLC store and the "Store" button in game does nothing at all.
So do the CE guys get them or are they invisible? Or just for one mode only? Or...? |
I must be the unluckiest sumbitch around then. I don't recall my tanks ever running over soldiers. The enemy are pigeons and my tanks are buses. |
I'm pretty alone here, but there are WAY too few 6p and 8p maps for those enjoyable Comp-stomps, and transplanting maps from the Western Front to the Eastern front somewhat detracts from the immersion. I hardly expect to be rolling T34s down the Bocage...
Although I accept that more = better for the "community", the sheer amount of copies sold vs online players shows that obsessing over 1v1 maps isn't necessarily for the best. |
It's pretty ridiculous now, especially with some of the unit costs already being detrimental. Shall I pick one PG squad that will get annihilated by a molotov and struggle to kill anything because of weak inf weapons, or shall I have a tank.
Now I've finally saved up enough fuel for a doctrine unit, let me just kamikaze half my army so I can actually produce it.
COH1 had 125, this has 100 and everything is more expensive. Not helped by the fact that capping points doesn't effect the popcap anyway. In general it's pretty ridiculous. One or two extra points I can understand, but doubling some, and 50% to most of them, is insanity.
Kirsk this aint. |
So the Scout car now works as intended. And that's hideous?
Sure the Popcap changes are terrible. Truly awful. But otherwise every patch gradually brings more balance to the game.
Btw, Battlecruiser 3000AD had the worst patch ever /Kanye |
Ah that explains that. I thought I'd accidentally cleared them. |
