I like to have a "conscript focus" loadout in which all the commanders include con repair, and 2 of the three have assault package. I don't think it would be that OP because A.) Penals would bleed more on the approach because they have no way to get close quickly (no oorah) B.) Much more expensive than cons. and C.) they have no snare/ antitank capabilities once upgraded with ppsh (PTRS patched out of PPSH penals long ago). Infact, considering all these things, I would just use conscripts to supplement penals if I went for a penal build anyways lol. I was thinking the same thing, Penals would be powerful but expensive in cost and reinforce however with certain commanders it would give 2 possible openings. With Guards Rifle Combined, I was thinking hard hitting slow early game that is helped with Guards Rifle to fight back against LV. An M5 could be used to keep up mid game pressure while stalling for the KV1. The other commander was Soviet Reserve, it would work similar to Airborne for USF where both tech are "covered". The main draw back would be how MP intensive it would be around mid game. However you get mg and AT along with PPSH Penals. In: COH2 Balance

I was wondering if the only way to get Penal PPSH is with the weapon drop? Has there been any thoughts on making the assault package include Penals just like the repair ability. And one last question, what is the damage difference between the assault guard with thompson vs the airbourne with ppsh? In: COH2 Balance

Playing against cpu, I am trying to go infantry heavy with both CPT and LT with the half track as support. It is a little clunky to heal but the reinforce radius is pretty good once you get vet2. edit: Double flamer in halftrack seems to work fairly well. Question for those more knowledgeable. Is the range reduced while in the track? I know accuracy is worse. I am trying to see if on more open maps it would be better to bar up or use bazooka inside the half track. In: COH2 Balance

Current e8 have 200/165/155 pen, +10 mean 210/175/165, make it closer to the commet in term of AT (210/190/170). This can make the tank commander more attractive as an AT oriented upgrade compare to the AI top MG upgrade. This actually sounds pretty good. Maybe remove sight for pen or just increase the overall cost. In: COH2 Balance

When it did hit it usually killed a model rarely did squad damage. At Vet 3 it almost felt like a sniper. In: COH2 Balance

Its lethality is heavily dependent on being stationary (almost all the damage is in the 50cal...which has 0.375 moving accuracy) and the Canister Shot. Locking away either the Canister shot or some of the DPS behind vet would still leave it with its excellent HP, Speed, and Vision. Likewise if you go after its survivability, its going to depend on how much is taken away. A Greyhound with canister and 50cal at a Stuart timing is going to be very scary, and not a lot of AT weapons will be on the field at that time. (222 would actually be able to hunt and kill it though, Greyhound only narrowly wins with its current stats) Your reasoning seems quite weak, everything you said minus health can easily be gated behind Vet. Speed and vision Vet 1, restore DPS behind Vet2. The fact that a 222 can scare it off while costing half the gas is plenty. Ost has faust, At gun and mine along with shrek's available. If the player chooses to invest or not is up to them. Just as a USF player goes LT they made a decision to forgo AT gun. OKW is an even better position to fight back with Lucas, puma, faust, shrek and rak. Also canister shot is fairly useless due to its range. You are setting yourself up for snare In: COH2 Balance

Trading some lethality to tie it to an earlier timing and tech makes sense imo. Other possibilities: * Hide the canister shot or the 50cal behind vet 1. * Bring its HP in line with a Armor Skirted M20. This would make it a massive glass cannon, but without the benefit of smoke pots like the M20. How about a overall nerf to DPS that is restored once the unit hits Vet 1? Like 10% to reload and range.
