My biggest losing stream was -5 in 2v2 random, but it was because I kept going up against high level arranged team while getting paired with someone with considerably lower rank than any of us. Automatch FTW. |
Thanks Cynthia for the response. Kinda surprised that you guys implemented something as big as a server reconnect feature and it was a stealth change!
Yesterday I loaded a game where one guy on the opposing team was taking ages to load. Then when he finally finished, we froze for like 20 seconds (nothing moved, resource income was at +0), everyone can chat, and then eventually I got a message that everyone dropped followed by the DEFEAT screen. I'm guessing the team with the guy who took ages to load got the win.
1) Was this scenario the server trying to reconnect?
2) If so, why wouldn't it just drop the obviously problematic player instead of ruining the game for everyone?
3) How does it decide which team wins and which loses? |
Does it have the same gun as the flak halftrack? If so, I've had awkward situations where I'd have a unit behind cover with the flak halftrack supporting it, but since that thing loves hitting the ground / objects it ends up suppressing MY units instead of the enemy.
I haven't tried the flak emplacement yet nor have seen it used much. |
I want to like Hill 331, but the mud tech slows down everything way too much. It's been on my perma-veto list since the first week it came out. Like others have said here, either less muddy areas overall or speed up movement a little bit.
Or maybe introduce a rain mechanic that turns certain areas into mud, but when the rain stops, the mud "hardens" and it's back to regular ground. Kind of like the blizzard mechanic in relation to freezing ice. |
You don't right-click to fire the rocket at a unit like you would do with any other unit where right is move/attack.
You select the sturmtiger, hit 'R' (or 'Z' if you are using grit-hotkeys) to select the firing ability, and you left-click on an enemy model. The rocket is an 'ability' that does not auto-fire when you right-click an enemy unit. For the Sturmtiger right-click is movement only.
Edit: So just to be clear, you always left-click to fire the rocket. Left-click on an enemy model and it will track, left-click on the ground and it will not track.
Was just testing this vs AI. If you R > left-click on the enemy unit, it'll actually start the shooting animation when they're in range and rotate in place tracking it as they move up until it's ready to release the rocket. Good stuff and I can see that being very useful when trying to hit a vehicle.
One caveat is it does tend to focus on the closest unit model, so your rocket may not land in the middle of that unit. If facing a blob, it's best to choose a unit fairly in the center of that blob or manually attack the ground to net more kills. |
I've found it to be a very good early game unit that can tip that first engagement in your favor. The health and armor is fine considering it doesn't cost any fuel with its performance to suppress and high mobility.
The biggest problem is pathfinding and when it decides to SLOWLY turn 180 degrees or move forward when you tell it to reverse... |
all t1 units "omg this soviet cheese!! nerf!!!"
Maxim: "too much maxim spam!! nerf this bullshit!"
ZiS: "wtf this at counter my armor!! soviet is OP a-move faction! noob!"
Guards: "Soviet noob. Why you use guards? You spammer!!"
conscripts: WTF SPAM CONSCRIPTS!?!? OMG TOO MUCH MAP CONTROL!! THIS IS BULLCRAP!!!"
Shock troops: "omfg shocks op. they kill my blob of LMG grens so fast! NERF THIS CRAP!! why you spam shocks soviet noob?"
T34-76/85: "wow so many t34s. you spam too much"
ISU: "WTRF THIS SHIT WIPES MY SQUADS LEFT AND RIGHT!!!! IT IS ALSO GOOD AGAINST TANKS!?!?!? WTF NERF THIS POOP TO THE GROUND!!!!"
lol that's pretty much what 90% of my in-game chat looks like. It's never their fault or the fact that they're getting outplayed or punished for blobbing but rather that the other faction is OP / you're a noob + other insults involving the c word / something about your mother. Sometimes it's hilarious, but there are moments where you wish you have a mute button. |
That is correct, the IR scanner does not allow for direct targeting of units. However, it's still not a bad combination if you can afford it. The Sturmtiger out-ranges normal line of sight. So if you spot something that does not move, like a stationary support weapon, a squad capping a point, or a stationary tank, you can reduce them to a pile of smoking dust without them even seeing your Sturmtiger.
Good to know, I've been wondering about that. I've used the Sturmtiger mostly in larger team games as a crowd control, reactionary unit to punish blobbers. I've one-shot a few tanks before (Jacksons, Shermans, M8 Scott) and have always wondered why they didn't move out of the way, but I guess they can't even see me |
So when are we gonna have a 4v4 RNG vs TAB game? |
Haven't used ram in a while since T34s are actually pretty good battle tanks now. But to answer your question, yes hitting the front / rear of a vehicle does matter since ramming has the penetration value of 160 and can be deflected (160 dmg vs 80 deflection dmg). What you get out of it is a bit of a dice roll, though I think some sort of engine damage is guaranteed.
From the latest 4/24 patchnote:
Ram
Currently, ram is being used as a crowd control measure to disable other vehicles. The intent isn't for a full health T34 to ram other vehicles; instead, ram should be used when the T34 is near death to highlight its usage as a last resort type ability.
* No longer causes instant main gun destroyed critical
* Now has a chance to cause one of the follow criticals to occur: light engine damage, heavy engine damage, immobilization, or main gun destroyed. The chance is weighed such that light engine damage has the highest occurrence where main gun destroyed has the lowest. |
