You do realise that a T-34/76 / M4 Sherman has only a 53% chance to penetrate a King Tiger in the back at point-blank, right? That means to kill a King Tiger, it needs to be hit from behind at least 16 times. This means it would take a T-34/76 an average of over 100 seconds of firing point-blank into the rear of a King Tiger to destroy it. Now factor in the Panzerschreck support and Obersoldaten escort, and it's a nigh unstoppable beast capable of dealing with any and every threat, except artillery (which it is durable enough to shrug off a hefty amount of before falling back).
I've only seen an ally lose a King Tiger once, because our opponent spammed dual M1919 Riflemen and M36 Jacksons. The rifleblob overwhelmed 2 Heavy Machine Guns and 2 Anti-Tank guns and when the King Tiger revealed itself to stop the charge, it took hits from 5-6 Jacksons sitting behind the mob. This is the only time I've seen a properly used King Tiger KIA.
Look at what chance the Panzer IV has to penetrate an IS-2 from the back in point blank range, it is not much higher. |
There are two reasons why you may see many Panzerschreck blobs:
1. You are basically forced to get at least some Volksgrenadier squads in the early game, but you cannot upgrade them in any other way than buying Panzerschrecks to make them remain more useful in the late game.
2. OKW doesn't have that many options to spend their munition on otherwise, especially if you didn't go for the T3 building for the munition into fuel transfer ability. Heck, I wish I could actually spend my munition on a more expensive Teller mine, but I don't get the option.
America and Ostheer spend their munition on relatively manpower-cheap units to make them scale for the late game, but OKW doesn't have that option. Instead they buy manpower-expensive units in late game which however don't cost munition. This obviously leaves a lot of munition free for other use for OKW, and so they can afford many Panzerschrecks even though buying two individual Panzerschrecks is actually more expensive than a dualpack for Ostheer. OKW's other abilities are also not really cheaper than other factions' abilities, with Infiltration Grenades being the only exception that I could think of now. Their commander abilities are often actually fairly expensive and some are not very useful.
Soviets with some strategies that rely on stuff like Snipers or Shock Troops have the same excess of munition, so they spam it on commander abilities like flame bombs instead as you can see especially in team games, yet I have never seen anyone calling for a nerf of Soviet munition income because of that.
The salvage ability nerf is ridiculous, it is not even worth spending the time for just 2 fuel. You will need to salvage 35 wrecks just to afford a single Puma after your suggestion. |
Unit which make dmg when not moving is not a counter against snipers. It should have nice dmg while moving and reduced suppression so it won't suppress in 2 secs.
Well that is what happened in the buff patch (it actually suppressed slower than before I think, however it could suppress whole blobs which it before couldn't), and people were not happy. |
Community were crying (maybe not as loud as recently but still) for weeks BEFORE kubel was buffed. Now it's same as it was before recent buff so in fact nothing has changed.
Several people here have complained before the buff that it was in fact needing a buff, mostly due to lack of scaling and fucked up pathing. It was also complained that OKW had no counter for Snipers, and some people suggested to give that ability to Kübelwagen. The buff didn't come out of nowhere. |
Great, so now OKW will have no counter for Snipers anymore again, but apparently this is not something Relic sees a need to fix immediately.
The munition nerf makes no sense to me either, if OKW is strong then not because of their munition, but Relic say themselves they just have no clue yet what to do so they do "something", so I guess we have to take it as it is.
But here you have now proof that Relic will also balance the game to some extent to team games and not just 1on1. |
Yes please! |
The thing with coh 2 is that is increases the skill cap of the game, because it's another place for good players to overcome weaker players. COH 2 already has rather low skillcap, so something increasing it is a very good thing.
What makes clicking around like a madman to gain an advantage like this make you consider "skillfull" or something to distinguish one player from another so that the one player deserves a win more than the other because of this? I am just not seeing it. |
The game never stops to amaze you with bullshit like this. |
I think that most Relic staff have shown a lot of patience and generally good behaviour in the past, even when people were harrassing them. I mean, there are enough reasons in my opinion that warrant criticising Relic in some way or the other, but criticism is sometimes expressed in a very harsh and insulting way, especially in the internet. Seeing this Relic usually reacts still very nicely to these things.
bC / Breaking Brad / Braden Chan is a bit different in that regard, as he seems to interact with the community like as if he is part of the community and not like a Relic staff member. This on the one hand doesn't have to be necessarily a bad thing, you can regard that as being close to the community, and we like to interact with Relic when we can. On the other hand this may sometimes go a bit too far and appear trollish (or in this incident insulting), which comes into conflict with his position as a Relic employee. You generally would expect them to "lead by example", because how can you expect your community to be well behaved if you are not at least showing yourself as well behaved?
I am not sure what results out of this thread now, but it is at least nice to see that Relic is thinking about the current situation.
By the way I would also like to have a mute function for players in game, because insults and harrassment are sadly not uncommon in automatches in general. |
Ok, I think we have now nearly all units for OKW being done for getting a "this unit is overpowered" thread. |
