Thank you, everyone!
BTW, still can't find "search" function on the forum. Is there one?
I don't think there is right now, they are supposedly working on one though. |
The game is supposed to do better on AMD cards than Nvidia, which is what I have. The game is clearly not finished and all we can hope is that patches & driver updates will improve the situation, until then, lower them settings and enjoy the solid gameplay on offer. |
Performance is acknowledged to be flawed, Nvidia is working on finding optimizations for their next driver. It supposedly runs a bit better on AMD cards, I have no idea about the validity of that but I know Nvidia is looking for performance optimizations.
AndyBNV said so on NeoGAF. |
Yea, people bringing up the EULA and threats of legal action are over the top. I also am dismayed at individuals who are willing to defend publishers who show very little interest in the fans (other than getting them to buy the most recent game/dlc/expansion).
For me it is simple; if relic don't finish work on the first game, don't buy the second one.
Down fan?
Saving the game from going offline by paying an external studio to port it to Steamworks and fix major bugs/issues with said version is showing "very little interest"? That's preposterous, sorry.
I want some of these issues fixed too but the game still works fine if you use the match browser. I'm surprised so many care about automatch, the match browser has always been the superior way to find yourself games. I'm more angry that CoH2 lacks a match browser vs. CoH losing automatch. |
Some of the posts in this thread are ridiculous, be appreciative, you know how few major publishers would have saved this game from going offline? THQ wasn't going to, they couldn't even save themselves. SEGA came in and put the funds necessary into coh to keep the online working and they did it because they care about their strategy franchises. They also delayed COH2, which is already missing features in its current state so who knows what awful "release" version we were going to see under THQ.
So your automatch in CoH doesn't work?
Boo-fucking-hoo, use the match browser. It works fine and frankly it's always been a better way to find games anyways. Relic will fix the rest of the already functional multiplayer when they get the chance. |
I definitely prefer avoiding OP tactics in games but I also typically only play multi with friends in CoH2, in vCoH I'll play with whoever because the folks who still play it seem a lot more relaxed to me than the CoH2 players I've run into thus far.
Then again I mostly get CoH for single player, the multi is just a nice extra benefit for me. |
50% on a quad core might be 2 cores totally used, and the application not planned to manage 4. It's still a bottleneck. That said it might not be the case of coh2 (I didn't pay attention) but at least a general thing to know.
Ahh, that's true I didn't actually look at the individual cores. I'll check next time I run it.
Edit: it's pushing work on all four cores and while playing a skirmish it peaked at 59% and averaged at 48% As such I can determine the main bottleneck is definitely GPU and I doubt the patch AndyBNV mentioned will help a GTX 460 much but I'll take what I can get cause I don't want to upgrade until Q4,2013-Q2,2014 range. |
So, the rest of the commanders released today for the CE. Have folks formed any opinions yet? Not sure how long they've been out, I have them but I don't know if they came out at midnight or what. |
Your CPU is weak for modern games and the 460 1GB will choke on higher resolutions due to lack of vram. I'd expect you to be able to run on mediumish to low pretty well though.
My CPU on my current settings is peaking out at 48% I don't think that's the bottleneck, Nvidia has already acknowledged the game isn't working as well on their cards as they would like. AndyBNV (an Nvidia rep) said on NeoGAF they are working with Relic to find optimizations.
Though my GPU is definitely not amazing regardless. |
My pc has an athlon II x4 630 o.c. To 3,5 Ghz, 4 gigs ram and HD 6950 1gb o.c.
I can play coh 2 on the highest settings except v sinc turned off and AA on low, at av 43 fps.
It supposedly performs better on AMD cards. Nvidia is looking to increase performance in a future driver. |
