making a reskin takes the artists time and a lot of it let alone upping the poly count on a model. If u want higher poly count on the starting units they have to remake the model unless they had already scaled it down from a higher res one.
Skins for units are an exception as players can make their own to replace the old
Unfortunately not for automatch. As contrary to coh1.
Lol, we seem to have very different opinions on not only RTS games but Coh2 as a whole. No point in arguing over different taste and opinions.
I will leave it at that.
Cheers bro
True. cheers.

Act of Aggression?
No no, I forgot, GREY GOO. Far superior to coh2 Kappa
Plannetary Annihilation? Stronghold Crusader 2? ... endless list xD
Now we never stated it needed to be anything still in development[...]
Uff.. I made this statement to narrow down the discussion, not to "get Coh2 in a better spot" and in the hope you come up with some diamond I maybe oversaw. Civ is turn-based, no "real" RTS. Starcraft is on #1, I agree.
But, honestly, if you really think that from today's point of view AoE is a better RTS game than CoH2 than we truely have very different opinions. Back than it was legend and had more impact than Coh2 for sure and maybe even than Coh. But right now Graphics, balancing and gameplay diversity is a joke. Its like saying Dune 2 is currently the best RTS game!
Same counts for AoM, C&C Generals, Supreme Commander, or whatever RTS-game which has long been swallowed by the past.
I like to be nostalgic for the past, but I like playing entertaining video games more. Or whats the actual playerbase for AoE in 2015? 5?

Sure you are entitled to your opinion, yet you can't deny that Relic aims for quantity, not quality. Quality always comes second with Relic.
Ah yes, it is the second best RTS-game for you, I doubt it is for many others. Wouldn't there be a bigger player base if this was in fact the 2nd best RTS-game in the world?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game and I surely enjoy playing it, but stating this is the 2nd Best RTS-game in the world is going a bit overboard is it not? Relic isn't the most competent developer, their handling of not only the Coh2 campaign but also its multiplayer and faction design shows this pretty harshly.
Great game, 2nd best, nope.
Relic aimed for quantity at the beginning of Coh2 cicle because they urgently needed revenue to keep business going. Meanwhile Coh2 has become a financial success (which you can see by increased quality content and the hiring of asian pro employees (Mr Lee)).
There not being a bigger playerbase has many reasons, mediocre marketing, complexity of the game, the rise of mobas etc. Apart from Starcraft, RTS-games in general do not have the biggest player base.
But, sure, opinions are many. Good thing though we can discuss them. So, which current RTS-game ("current" in terms of content is still being produced by company) is the 2nd best of the world in your opinion?

Yet what I said was nothing but the truth, which you ignored
In my experience people claiming to state "the truth", are the furthest away from it.
Quality is relative. If you look at other games with the triple-A-label on them, you see what I mean.
CoH2 is in an excellent state meanwhile. Not perfect, but one of the best RTS-games in the world. Id give it 2nd place after Starcraft. Thats quality for me. |
I see.
Coh2 a triple-A-quality title? Hahaha don't push it now
Yes. CoH, W40K, DoW2, CoH2, all rts-games on the highest level of quality.
Have you played BF4? Or any alternative RTS-game of the past 5 years (again Blizzard is out of the equation because of soon(ish)(TM))?
CoH2 had a bad start with a lot of issues, but meanwhile its an excellent game, state-of-the-art graphics, solid balance, unique gameplay.
Funny how ppl are so used to their internet whining, that they cant see quality anymore.

It *Really* is not the strongest 1v1 faction.
http://coh2chart.com/
Consistently so for some while now. If we dont believe in data, then its still at least one of the stronger 1v1-factions and not to be advertised with "still sucks, don't use them". |
In Groningen The Netherlands you do get free food at restaurants. Appetizers with bread and free drinks when you take a full menu.
And in the way you are putting it, isn't it weird that staff that take your orders while working in a company that charges you money for certain food items and then the staff expects you to give them money for the services they provide you (tips). While it is just their job?
If we factor this in, shouldn't Relic be giving us free skins because we play their game. Surely we should get some reward right, we are the loyal but small playerbase.
Relic is not expecting you to give any money (tips). You pay for what you want. Again, relic is a smaller company working on a niche genre for PC only, that alone reduces business opportunities. As long as they perform like this year, Im glad to pay for whatever little nerd-powered nonsense they throw at me to help them become bigger.
After all, its the only company which consistently produces triple-A-quality titles in the RTS genre (besides Blizzard, which really does not need any financial support at all). |
Soviet: rush quad and spam SU-76s
USF: still sucks, don't use them
Wehr: mg spam works
OKW: gets rekt by artillery
He s going for 1v1. USF best 1v1 faction. Great advice.

And this is where my dislike comes around. Why do we need to pay for a skin pack? A skin for a tank or a unit? One guy makes that in like 3 hours. And then for 3 different skins, they ask like what 5 euros?
Lol I still don't get why you would pay for such a thing.
I have a job and spend 10euro on lunch almost on a daily base. Gaming is a hobby of mine and Im rly into history, so spending 99cent on some skin is not a consideration, its a click and buy. If I want to save money, I cook more.
Im sure there are many people around who think in the same direction.
Expecting relic to put payed working hours into something which gains no money and is not necessary for gameplay is like expecting to get free food at a restaurant because it would be nice PR. CoH2 is not LoL and even there you pay a lot for skins n stuff.
Of course I respect anyone who wont put any extra money into such stuff. Its a matter of interest and wallet size I guess. |
I wonder, how do you envision this happening? Relic will surely put this behind a paywall
Id pay for new infantry skins. And Im not the only one for sure.
Feels like a missed business opportunity for relic. |
